This Fan-Favorite East Asian Coffee Chain Is Coming To The States

It’s no big secret that people will go to great lengths to get the coffee they want. Whether it’s investing in a $3000 at-home espresso machine or booking a vacation to go to the coffee shop they’ve been stalking online for months, people seem to stop at nothing to get their perfect cuppa. From recipes to itineraries, once a specific cup of coffee gets in our heads it’s hard to get it out. And, fans of one international coffee and cake company will be able to get their hands on their favorite tastes with much less fuss very soon.

A Twosome Place is a South Korean coffee and cake company that has a bit of a cult-like following. Much like a trip to Europe calls for the inevitable trip to Prêt À Manger and trip to Boston demands a cup of Dunkin’, regional eats are essential to travel – even if the coffee isn’t anything to write home about. Not to fear with Twosome, though. It’s known for its exceptional quality across East Asia. It is so renowned that since their opening in 2002 they have expanded to over 2,000 locations. while most of their locations are in South Korea, they’re well aware that the American audience for their coffees and cakes is there. That’s why they’re building out a store in the DC area, and fans won’t have to wait long to try it out.

Their Newest Location

Luckily for any of us that are curious about this coffee company and yet won’t find ourselves in Korea anytime soon, their newest location is stateside. They’re headed to Alexandria, Virginia in the DC area to open up their first U.S. store, and fans are already ready and waiting. The opening is intended for October, so we’re only a month away now until we’ll be able to get luscious coffees and cakes at our leisure.

One Redditor who is moving from Korea to Northern Virginia commented on a post regarding this newest location saying, “It’s one of my favorite coffee chains here in the Korea. The desserts are absolutely delicious.” Another comment reads, “Actually excited about this, I hope they bring a one-to-one comparison regarding products!”

What To Expect

For those of us less aware of what A Twosome Place is known for, let’s talk about what makes this coffee shop so successful and delicious. For starters, they were the first coffee shop in Korea to bring three different roasts of coffee as an option upon ordering. Their dark roast, medium roast, and decaf roast coffees are expertly made to ensure customer satisfaction. Beyond the blends, they make unique lattes and coffees using East Asian flavors and techniques.

But perhaps the thing that’s more sensational and attention-catching is their cakes. Not only is their Strawberry Chocolate Fresh Cream Cake one of the best-selling cakes in Korea, coming in at around three million sold every year, but their American-inspired Ice Box cakes sell more than six million a year. Beyond the Ice Box Cake, A Twosome Place is approaching their newest store opening with the American audience in mind creating new, unique products that are sure to satisfy the American tastes with distinct Korean inspiration. We’re just hoping this is the first of many U.S. locations.
