New Tostitos Dip! Tostitos Launches First Refrigerated Dip

Tostitos is no stranger to dips. No, sirree. Over the years, it’s released loads of them, and we’ve tried loads of them too. Some of them are absolutely not up our street, and many of them (like its recent jalapeño popper dip) don’t quite hit the mark like you want them to – but others are a winner in our books. Tostitos Cheese Enchilada Dip, for instance, is one of the best dips we’ve ever tasted, and it also makes one of our favorite quesos (its Salsa Con Queso Medium, in case you were wondering).

So, basically: We know ball when it comes to this brand, and we weren’t not going to talk about its new dip flavor. Especially since, for the first time, it’s refrigerated – because it’s a guac. Let’s discuss.

Tostitos Guac: A New World for the Brand

Tostitos has just dropped the news that it’s storming into the refrigerated guacamole market, after years of being one of the go-to brands for shelf-stable dips. According to its press release, this major release has received some major attention and development. “We set out to create a guacamole that when people ask what the best tasting guacamole is — or what guacamole is best for chips —Tostitos will be the answer,” said PepsiCo Foods US’ vice president, Courtney Larson, in a statement. “We built this product from the ground up around flavor, quality fresh ingredients including no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, and the chunky texture that makes every dip better.”

Tostitos also promises that its new Chunky Guacamole is a Non-GMO Project Verified product, and will be vegan, kosher, and gluten-free. This mild guac will be made with Hass avocados, onions, tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, spices, and a burst of lime. The brand’s move into the refrigerator section perhaps reflects a growing customer desire for fresher dips and flavors, and, to be honest, we’re not mad about it. Although we’ll be reserving judgment until we can try it, of course.

Coming Soon(ish) to a Store Near You

What we are a little mad about, though, is when it’s coming out. Tostitos Chunky Guacamole will be launching this fall, and the brand didn’t provide any specific date.

Okay, we’re not actually mad, just a bit sad that it’s going to take so long. Refrigerated guac is a key snack in everyone’s barbecue or picnic arsenal, and it’s practically tailor-made for the summer months. We appreciate Tostitos taking its time with it and not rushing things, but we can’t help but feel that this announcement is teasing us with a good time. Maybe that’s the whole point, though. Until then, we’ll just have to sit back with our Good Foods Chunky Guacamole, which has been our favorite store-bought guac so far. Look, we’re not short on options — we just wish there was one more for all that summer fun.
