This New Trader Joe’s Candy Is Getting Rave Reviews

Trader Joe’s candy can be, like so many other things at the store, a bit of a mixed bag. Sometimes, it really hits it out of the park: Its recent release of mushroom gummies (and no, not the kind you’re thinking of) was warmly received by its customers, with people praising them for their sourness. Other times, it falls slightly short of the mark – for some wild reasons. Anyone who tried Trader Joe’s new gummy worms and found themselves sitting on the toilet for the rest of the day can attest to this.

Trader Joe’s Sour Confetti Chews

As is custom with the store, Trader Joe’s has just dropped its Sour Confetti Chews without any fanfare (or, perhaps more appropriately for the product itself, any fireworks): They just appeared one day in its candy aisle, and the people of Reddit duly discovered them. When they did, people found that they were a smash hit. TJ’s customers are big fans of the new Sour Confetti Chews, with one person saying “These are beyond addictive,” and another saying, “Bought one bag of these and regret it so much. They’re SO good.” In fact, some people are saying that these chews remind them of the mushroom gummies we mentioned above, which are now, sadly, out of stock. 

One thing that people particularly love about the Sour Confetti Chews is that they’re not too sour: They have just the right level of acidity to them, without being too overwhelming. That said, Trader Joe’s has sadly alienated a couple of people here by including one ingredient in the mix. “I was excited to try these until I saw it had milk in it. Why must milk be in everything?” said one customer on the Reddit post discussing the chews.

Okay, okay. Trader Joe’s Sour Confetti Chews cost $2.29 for a 5.2-ounce bag, and they come in five different flavors. These aren’t specifically outlined on the packaging, but Redditors have deduced that the green flavor is green apple, the orange flavor is mango, the yellow flavor is lemon, the pink is either strawberry or raspberry, and the blue is either bubblegum or watermelon. Some logical choices, some slightly less logical ones – but no less delicious for it all. 

No word on whether these chews are a July 4-specific food – but they definitely could be, in a slightly lateral way, what with their celebratory vibe and all, and that means they might not be around for long. So if you want to try them, do so sooner rather than later.
