Have you started thinking about your stocking stuffers yet? No? I don’t say that to pressure you, and I really mean that. We still have, according to my hasty checking of the calendar, 74 days until Christmas. A lot of the best gift options for this year haven’t even appeared yet, for goodness’ sake. But if you have the dual qualities of liking to get ahead and a love of gifting edible items, you may be compiling a mental list in your head as we speak of delicious treats to stock up on before it’s too late.

Thankfully, a couple of brands already have you covered. Last week, we were talking about Ghirardelli’s new Chocolate Snowmen, which are all but guaranteed to put a smile on people’s faces when placed in a large, Christmas-themed sock. And Trader Joe’s is also getting in on the fun. Chocolate lovers, look no further.
Trader Joe’s Filled Belgian Chocolate Bites
Trader Joe’s is currently selling Filled Belgian Chocolate Bites, a new option that appeared as part of a seasonal treat drop a few weeks ago (during which its Chocolate Mousse Pumpkins also appeared, to much jubilation). Each 100-gram box contains a bunch of individually wrapped little chocolates in four different flavors: White Chocolate with Hazelnut Praline and Crispy Rice Filling, Dark Chocolate with Caramel Toffee Filling, Milk Chocolate with Almond Praline Filling, and Dark Chocolate with Raspberry Filling. Each box costs $4.99, and you get about 20-22 chocolates in each one.
Over the last few weeks, Trader Joe’s Filled Belgian Chocolate Bites have been racking up reviews and responses, and so far the consensus is that Trader Joe’s is onto a winner here. “Perfect size and so tasty,” said one customer on Reddit, with another person going into fairly extensive detail about what to expect from each flavor. We’re especially pleased to hear that the raspberry flavor actually tastes like raspberry, not some artificial imitation of the real thing. The winner, though, is apparently the praline flavor: In both chocolates that contain it, it shines through.
A Crowdpleaser
This might not be the cheapest selection box around, especially for its size – but judging by what people are saying about their quality, they seem to be worth the cost. Trader Joe’s chocolate bites would be great for a stocking, sure, but they’d also be perfect placed delicately, subtly even, in a bowl on your coffee table, inviting people to grab a couple and scurry off into a corner. What, me? Is that the kind of thing I’d do? Absolutely not. I’m just saying that you could.
