New Trader Joe’s Kimchi Dumplings Just Leaked and I Can’t Wait to Try Them

Trader Joe’s does a few things really, really well—and dumplings are among those things. We’re big fans of their soup dumplings and you’ll pretty much always find a bag of their pork gyoza in our freezers. That’s why a recent Reddit post from a TJ’s crew member caught our eye. Apparently, there was a goof at the warehouse and a yet-to-be-announced new product showed up at their store—and now we know that Mandu Korean Kimchi Potstickers are coming to stores soon.

Okay, Kimchi Mandu sound great—when will they be at MY Trader Joe’s store?

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that, obviously, these suckers are bagged up and ready to be shipped out. They’ve got lovely packaging and they’re good enough to go that one rogue case could make its way onto a delivery truck.

The bad news is that there doesn’t seem to be any set timeline for their release. According to the original poster, the potstickers weren’t in their store’s ordering guide yet, although others have said they’ve been spotted in the QIL (which is the store’s computerized Quick Item Lookup). It seems that info will come soon, but no word yet on when exactly that’ll be. For now, we’re just left in limbo with only our soup dumplings to keep us warm.

In the meantime, here’s what we DO know about Trader Joe’s new dumplings

Mandu is just the Korean word for dumplings, and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes. These appear to be rectangular pouches that look kind of like pillows, but instead of goose down or foam, they’re filled with delicious kimchi. We can’t tell from the photos of the bag whether they’re vegetarian or not, but lots of folks are Reddit are keeping their fingers crossed that they are.

Are they good? If you like kimchi, sounds like you’re in luck. The OP described the new dumplings as “very kimchi-y.” We can’t wait to try them for ourselves!
