What a great time to be British. First, they get two creamy Pepsi flavors (or “flavours,” as they’d have you believe) including a brand new strawberry flavor, and now they get their own unique fruity Fanta variant? I’d ask what America did to deserve being snubbed like this, but I don’t have time for the list.
Anyway, there’s a new Tutti Frutti Fanta coming to the U.K. in March. If that sounds super sugary, here’s a shock: It’s only going to be available in zero sugar. Let’s see if we wanta can of this particular Fanta.
What is tutti frutti?
This is a question worthy of its own entire article here on Sporked, but I’ll give you the short version. Tutti frutti can mean slightly different things depending on your country of origin. Here in the United States, it almost always refers to a flavor (often a flavor of ice cream or gum) based on multiple types of candied fruits. In certain European countries, tutti frutti is a dessert made up of many different dried fruits mixed into a compote. It sounds like we agree globally that it’s a fruity smorgasbord; we’re just split on what we do with those fruits.
Is this the first Fanta flavor exclusive to the U.K.?
Not even close! You know those mystery-flavored Fanta sodas we got here in the states? That idea was stolen wholesale from Coca-Cola’s U.K. arm, which has released four different mystery Fanta flavors every year starting in 2020! International Fanta flavors are so interesting, there’s even an episode of Good Mythical Morning dedicated to tasting five of them and guessing where they came from.
Is there any way I can get this new Fanta flavor in America?
Probably, if you know where to look. While we won’t see Tutti Frutti Fanta Zero Sugar widely released on retail shelves, there are a few reputable importers who hunt down stock of exotic releases like this to sell online. (True story, I worked with one of these brave souls a few years ago to import nearly 20 cans of a Coca-Cola Creations flavor exclusive to Japan.) Additionally, since this is a Coca-Cola product, there’s a chance the soda could become available inside the Coca-Cola Store tasting experiences in Atlanta, Orlando, and Las Vegas. Finally, something to wash that nasty Chinese Sour Plum Fanta out of my mouth. Don’t come at me saying Beverly is worse, I know where I stand.
