This Is the Ultimate Game Day Snack Spread, According to You

UPDATE (Feb. 7, 2025): We tallied the votes! Just in time for the BIG GAME, here’s what’s on the ultimate game day snack table, according to you, our readers.

The Best Dip: Buffalo chicken dip (39.4%)

This feels like an upset! Buffalo chicken dip beat out guacamole, 7 layer dip, hummus, and spinach artichoke dip. But we get it—the craveable tang of Buffalo sauce just makes sense with sports. We recommend Marketside Buffalo Style Chicken Dip from Walmart. It’s creamy, tangy, and spicy, and even has chunks of celery so you get the full Buffalo experience.

The Best All-Purpose Chips for Dipping: Tortilla chips (62.8%)

We thought for sure Fritos Scoops would take the W here, but we get it—tortilla chips are classic and they go with everything. We’re partial to On the Border Cafe Style Tortilla Chips. They’re crispy and delicate, but not too delicate for scooping up your dip (or dips) of choice.

The Best Crunchy Snack: Snyders of Hanover Honey Mustard & Onion Pretzel Pieces (30.7%)

It was a close call, but y’all crave Snyder’s of Hanover Honey Muster & Onion Pretzel Pieces just as much as we do. They’re iconic! But Crunchy Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos were a close second.

The Best Cheese Situation: Queso (48.1%)

Liquid cheese, FTW! Queso beat out mozzarella sticks, pimento cheese, cubed cheddar, and vegan queso dip for a spot on the ultimate game day snack table. If you haven’t yet, try On the Border Salsa con Queso—it doesn’t reinvent any wheels, but it’s zesty, cheesy, creamy, and satisfying.

The Best Frozen App: Pigs in a blanket (26.2%)

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Pigs in a blanket are the ultimate crowd pleaser. Put them out at a party, and they’ll disappear before anything else—promise. If you’re not in the mood to spend the afternoon wrapping mini hot dogs in crescent roll dough, buy them premade and just pop them in the oven. We recommend Hebrew National Beef Franks in a Puff Pastry Blanket. Delish.

The Best Wildcard Item: Frozen pizza (34.6%)

Ditch the chili, the jalapeno poppers, and the mini meatballs—people want pizza at their game day parties! If you want something delivery-quality and super filling, try Motor City Detroit Style Supreme Deep Dish Pizza. One bite of the crispy cheese that collects around the edges of the crust, and it’ll become your frozen section go-to.

For context, here’s the original post:

Football season is wrapping up and the “excellent inverted dome contest” we have to refer to as the “Big Game” for legal reasons is right around the corner. For NFL fans, it’s the biggest day of the year—and the same goes for snack enthusiasts. The Big Game truly is our Super Bowl (I think it’s okay to use it in this context).

Whether you’re throwing a party for friends or showing up at someone else’s house for the festivities, there are certain things you expect to see—a dip, some chips, cheese, chili, maybe some chicken wings. But what are the non-negotiables? What’s on the ultimate game day snack table?

In the spirit of democracy, we’re asking you, our readers, to vote for the best game day snacks in six categories—the best dip, the best chips for dips, the best bagged snack, the best frozen appetizer, the best cheese format, and the best wildcard item—to create the ultimate game day snack table.
