Now, Mars has been celebrating Summerween for a while with early Halloween candy and all sorts of little tricks and treats up their sleeves. And they were kind enough to send us a Boo Box chock full of Halloween deliciousness, including some new treats for this year. Now, I know it’s still technically summer, but look, there was a lot of candy. When Mars gifts candy, they GIFT candy. I’ll be set for months with this (maybe just ’til Halloween but who’s counting?).

Now the box is a mix of returning Halloween favorites, as well as a couple of new guys. And I may have spiked my blood sugar, but I did my due diligence in trying everything (though I got the pumpkin Snickers and didn’t need to try those to know they were fire).

Everything Inside

So starting off, we have candy that wasn’t Halloweeny. That was the Peanut Butter Snickers and the Skittles Gummies (both fun size). I had actually never had Skittles Gummies, so this was a fun time to try them. And I already knew I liked Peanut Butter Snickers. So they may not have had the holiday spirit, but they were still delightful little treats.

Next, we’ve got the standard ghoulish twists classics―Snickers and Twix. The Ghoulish Green is just the nougat and biscuit (respectively) being dyed green for a particularly spooky flair. Now I’m always a little leery of dye because getting particularly vivid colors usually takes a lot of dye, which can change the taste of the treat (ask me my opinions about Red Velvet cake). But these are a vibrant color without tasting dyed. It’s a Snickers and Twix, just a little dressed up for Halloween.

Including Some New Treats

Now everyone loves when the pumpkin shaped candies come out. And I’m the same. But sometimes I want something a little different from just say, chocolate and peanut butter. Well Mars has the hookup with Snickers pumpkins. Same great Snickers ingredients all in a fun pumpkin shape. Not going to lie, I kind of like them more than a certain other candy.

We’ve also got some fun M&M’s treats. In both regular and peanut M&M’s, standard colors were swapped out for orange and black pieces, along with some spookily themed packaging. The star of the show is a returning favorite: pumpkin pie M&M’s. I’m about to hoard all the pumpkin ones I just got, they’re so good. The bag may say share, but I most definitely will not be doing so.

Finally, we’ve got the two new treats this year. One is Twix skulls. It’s just a standard Twix but shaped like a skull. Who doesn’t love chomping on a little skull? It was good and was a delightful twist that delivered more than just a standard Twix bar. They’re not going to beat Snickers pumpkins, but they may be second now.

Not Everything Was A Hit

And then we’ve got some spooky Creepy Crunchy Skittles Pop’d. These are Skittles that have been freeze dried. Freeze drying is the process removing all the moisture from candy―so when you have chewy candy, freeze drying makes it crisp. This was kind of like what I imagine what crunching on gravel would be like, but it tasted like the rainbow (and didn’t, you know, tear up my mouth or stomach). These don’t look like typical candy, but the strange and unusual mouth-feel could be just what you want for a Halloween party. Hey, you could even call it gravel or rocks for your candy spread. Who doesn’t want to lean into the Halloween theme, huh?
