Do you see that figure in the distance? That silhouette, with his hands on his knees, totally out of breath, gasping for air, and in need of a drink of water? That’s me, and the reason I look like that is that I’m exhausted…from all of these food-movie collabs! As blockbuster season has ramped up, studios and food brands have been joining forces nearly endlessly, all in service of good old promotion. Masters of the Universe, Supergirl, Toy Story 5…every movie around has been at it.

So has Minions & Monsters, the latest instalment in the Despicable Me franchise (which, at this point, might well just be the Minions franchise – but I digress!). Wendy’s has just announced a partnership with the film’s release and a new lineup, and we’ve got all the details.
Wendy’s x Minions
Officially announced yesterday (although some build-up and teasing of the collaboration started slightly before that), the Wendy’s and Minions & Monsters partnership is aimed at both kids and adults, with a themed meal for both parties. The kids’ meal comes with one of six exclusive Minions & Monsters toys; the adult meal comes with one of four blind box collectibles. Both, as you would imagine, feature the movie’s characters.
Included in each meal are:
- Minions & Monsters Adult Meal: Along with the blind box collectibles, you get a choice of a Big Bacon Classic or Spicy Chicken Sandwich, a small Hot & Crispy Fries, and a small Banana Frosty Swirl (more on that in a moment).
- Minions & Monsters Kids’ Meal: A choice of 2-piece chicken tenders, 4-piece chicken nuggets, a hamburger, or a cheeseburger, with a Jt. Hot & Crispy Fries or apple bites and a drink – and, of course, the exclusive toy.
You Mentioned A Banana Frosty Swirl…
I did do that, yes. Wendy’s has launched this all-new, very Minions-themed dessert as part of this collaboration. The Banana Frosty Swirl is made with Wendy’s Vanilla Frosty base, into which banana cream sauce is swirled. The combo of bananas and ice cream is firmly underutilized by fast food chains, and so it’s nice to see it make an appearance here.
And – and! – Wendy’s is also bringing out two new Coca-Cola Freestyle drinks, Pineapple Minion MischieFizz and Goomi’s Glimey Lime, to complete the collab. No word yet on what’s going to be in them…but let’s be real, they’ll be pineapple-flavored and lime-flavored, respectively. Intrigued by all this? Get down to Wendy’s from next Monday: These new items are available from June 15.
