Wendy's Pub Burger Is Finally Back (Along With Some New Items)

Do you, perchance, remember when we found out that Wendy’s was bringing back its Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger? No? Well, it was a mere four months ago. The chain held a public vote on X to find out which of its retired items its customers wanted to make a grand return, and the pretzel burger won out by a long shot, with nearly 74% of people asking for it to be brought back. And since then…nothing. Nada. All quiet on the burger front. You’d be forgiven for thinking that Wendy’s had forgotten all about it.

Wendy’s Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger: Here We Go Again

Yesterday, at 9:00 a.m. ET, Wendy’s dropped the news that its Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger was finally returning. Way to get in there right at the start of the week, right? For the uninitiated, this sandwich contains a Wendy’s quarter-pound beef patty with beer cheese sauce poured on top, with applewood-smoked bacon, smoky honey mustard, a slice of Muenster cheese, crispy onions, and pickles, all in a pretzel bun.

Not content to just offer a pub cheeseburger, the chain is also dropping a Pretzel Bacon Pub Chicken Sandwich, with the beef patty replaced with a chicken fillet. Oh, and why not have those with a side of Pub Fries? These loaded fries come with beer cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and applewood-smoked bacon crumbles. It’s going all-in on the pub feel this fall. As a pub frequenter and, dare I say, connoisseur, I approve (well, I approve of the inclination, at least – I can’t speak for the taste).

And A New Dessert!

Wendy’s is also releasing its new Apple Crumble Frosty Fusion, gracing the world with a very autumnal dessert. Combining a Vanilla Frosty with a spiced apple syrup and oat crumbles, it’s practically designed for sweater weather.

These new items should be arriving in stores imminently, and they’re coming at a good time for Wendy’s. The chain has been beset with criticism this year, with its new spicy chicken sandwich getting a lot of flak from its customers, and competitors like Burger King really doubling down on their improvements. For now, though, a lot of Wendy’s fans are excited about the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger’s return: Over on Reddit, a thread discussing its release had multiple people saying they’d make the trip to Wendy’s especially to try it again, after an extended period of not visiting the restaurant.
