As a single guy, I can’t buy a lot at Costco. I walk past the pallets of food with envy as I hold myself back from buying too much in one go. That said, I’d walk into traffic if I ended up with an industrial-size box of frozen hamburgers and had to finish them all myself. It’s just not possible—unless, that is, you throw a banging party with your spoils! Memorial Day is coming up, so even single people can enjoy putting together a Costco haul for their Memorial Day BBQ. And hell, if you have to finish off a jar of pickles the size of your head on your own after the party, at least your pals made a dent in them. Here’s what to buy at Costco for a Memorial Day BBQ.

Amylu Organic Chicken Burger with Caramelized Onion and Aged White Cheddar

You’re going to get some beef burgers for your BBQ—that’s a given. But that doesn’t have to be your only burger option. It’s time to get crafty with the options so your Memorial Day BBQ isn’t a total snooze fest. These chicken burgers come loaded with caramelized onions and aged white cheddar cheese. Costco is really spoiling us with this one.

Teton Waters Ranch Beef Jalapeño Cheddar Brat

I know it’s sacrilegious for me to mention bratwurst while skipping over Costco hot dogs. We agree—Kirkland hot dogs are great, but let’s branch out a little, shall we? Save that precious space on your grill for these jalapeño cheddar brats and just go ahead and get a $1.50 hot dog combo while you’re at the store. Problem solved!

Finlandia Premium Cheese Slices

If the question is what to buy at Costco, the answer better include at least one variety pack. Naturally, the best thing about grabbing a variety pack of cheeses for your Memorial Day BBQ is that everyone is going to have something that fits their tastes. And who’s going to complain about having extra cheese slices to get through when all is said and done? Not me! This Finlandia assortment comes with Swiss, cheddar, monterey jack, and colby jack cheeses.

Fresh Gourmet Crispy Onions

You may be asking yourself: “A giant bag of crispy onions, really?” But that’s not all it is. It’s a versatile giant bag of crispy onions! Versatile in sense that these crispy boys will work in pretty much every dish this Memorial Day. Throw some on top of your burgers for an extra bit of seasoning. Or into the salad for a satisfying crunch. Or just into a bowl next to the grill to keep your pit master satiated. There aren’t many better ways to get through a giant bag of crispy onions from Costco than by really getting them most of them at a BBQ.

Famous Dave’s Sweet ‘n Spicy Pickle Chips

Pickles, pickles, pickles! Slap them on a burger, eat ‘em by the forkful, or just put out a few and keep the honkin’ jar in the fridge for the rest of the year. There’s no wrong way to indulge in a backyard BBQ classic like a big ol’ jar of pickles. As you know by now, Famous Dave’s is a Minnesota institution, so I wouldn’t be doing my home state right if I didn’t add these to our list of what to buy at Costco.

Hershey’s S’mores Flavor Combos Kit Box

Don’t turn off the grill just yet! Keep that heat going low and slow as you gather ’round to get dessert going. A s’more is already the perfect dessert to usher in summer. A s’more kit from Costco with Hershey’s milk chocolate, Hershey’s with caramel inside, and Reese’s peanut butter cups?! Now, baby, that is summer! Honestly, it might not get any better than this, but at least we got to experience the high when we could.

Absolut Ocean Spray Cranberry Ready-to-Drink Vodka Cocktail Variety Pack

I know that in the past I’ve written at length about beer being the obvious but necessary choice for a Memorial Day BBQ. But times are a-changin’! And by times I mean the fact that it’s 90 degrees outside as I type this and it’s only the beginning of May. That’s too damn hot to be drinking something that’ll drag you weigh you down like beer! No thanks. I’ll take these refreshing, hydrating Absolut vodka cocktails from Costco instead.
