Candy corn has always been a hot topic every year when fall arrives: Some hate it, some love it, and it’s among the most divisive candies you can buy. But at one time, it was actually incredibly popular. People weren’t just eating candy corn. They were snapping up a special Brach’s snack that included the controversial corn-shaped candies and roasted peanuts.

For generations, candy corn and peanuts were actually a go-to fall treat. The salty and sweet combination was such a hit with kids and adults alike that Brach’s sold its own Corn ‘N Nut Mix, a blend of ready-to-eat candy corn paired with salted, roasted peanuts. There was even, at one time, a version that included chocolate-covered peanuts.
Never spotted Brach’s Corn ‘N Nut Mix on store shelves? Well, it’s far from the weirdest candy corn product. However, it was discontinued at some point a few years ago. But don’t worry: If it was an autumnal snack you loved, it’s super easy to whip up yourself.
What Was Brach’s Corn ‘N Nut Mix?
Brach’s Corn ‘N Nut Mix was as simple as it sounds. Each bag contained candy (only candy corn, so apologies to the candy corn haters among us) and peanuts. It was purely two ingredients, but it was convenient to grab while grocery shopping since it required no “cooking” or effort at all.
The candy corn and peanut mixture from Brach’s first debuted in 2013, but it wasn’t exactly a brand-new idea. People had been creating their own versions of Corn ‘N Nut Mix at home for decades before Brach’s bags ever arrived in stores.
Most people had their own candy corn and nut mix, but there were some “recipes” available, too — you know, in case you were anxious about getting that sweet-salty ratio perfect. Planters, for example, has a Halloween Peanuts and Candy Corn recipe online. Reddit users also share their own recipes, branching out beyond peanuts alone.
So, when Brach’s Corn ‘N Nut Mix suddenly became difficult to find in stores around fall 2024, people were disappointed. But it’s not a total loss. After all, with a bag of candy corn (perhaps one from Brach’s, if you’re picky) and your favorite roasted peanuts or other nuts on hand, you can whip up a batch yourself.
And since Halloween has ended and stores are marking down their candy corn to clearance prices right now, I recommend stocking up. You can enjoy your own Corn ‘N Nut Mix until you run out of cheap candy corn.
You Can Still Buy a Prepackaged Version — But Not From Brach’s
Don’t trust yourself to mix candy corn and peanuts together into a DIY Corn ‘N Nut Mix? That’s silly, but you do have store-bought options. While Brach’s version isn’t available any more, Target sells a dupe.
Target’s private label brand Favorite Day sells Fall Harvest Candy Corn & Peanuts for $5. So, you can grab a resealable bag of the stuff ready to dig into.
But frankly, with candy prices falling now that trick-or-treating is over — and candy corn’s notorious status as a lesser option — odds are you’ll be able to make your own mix for far cheaper. And you can eat it all fall long. Who knows, it might even become a Thanksgiving favorite.
