There aren’t many places where less than a dollar can still buy a dozen of anything these days. So when a deal this good comes around, it’s worth paying attention. The catch is it doesn’t stick around for long, and once it’s gone, fans will have to wait another year for another shot.

Krispy Kreme Is Throwing Itself a Birthday Party
Krispy Kreme turns 89 this year and the doughnut chain is celebrating the best way it knows how: with cheap doughnuts. On Friday, July 17th, customers can get an Original Glazed dozen for just 89 cents when they buy any dozen at the regular price. The birthday deal is available for one day only at participating Krispy Kreme locations across the U.S., while supplies last.
That means customers can buy any regularly priced dozen, whether it’s assorted classics, filled doughnuts, seasonal flavors, or another available variety, and unlock the birthday-priced Original Glazed dozen for only 89 cents. Considering a Original Glazed dozen usually costs over $10, that’s a pretty sweet birthday present.
This yearly promotion has become a tradition for the brand. Last year, Krispy Kreme celebrated turning 88 by selling Original Glazed dozens for 88 cents. This year, the price goes up by exactly one penny.
A Few Rules to Know Before Heading To The Drive-Thru
As with any great food deal, there’s a catch—or two. Customers visiting a participating Krispy Kreme shop or drive-thru can buy up to two 89-cent Original Glazed dozens with qualifying purchases. Those ordering online for pickup or delivery can claim one discounted dozen.
The offer is only available on Friday, July 17th, so waiting until the weekend won’t work. Krispy Kreme’s birthday deals usually attract plenty of hungry fans, so showing up earlier in the day probably isn’t the worst idea.
89 Years Of Original Glazed
There’s a reason Krispy Kreme keeps celebrating with its Original Glazed doughnuts. They’re the treat that started it all.
The company opened its doors in 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after founder Vernon Rudolph began selling fresh doughnuts using a secret recipe. The smell drifting outside the bakery quickly attracted people walking by, who started asking if they could buy doughnuts straight from the kitchen. Rudolph responded by cutting a window into the building and selling them directly to customers, creating what would become one of America’s most recognizable doughnut brands.
Nearly nine decades later, the Original Glazed is still Krispy Kreme’s signature doughnut.
Restaurant chains hand out plenty of coupons throughout the year, but offers that bring a full dozen doughnuts below the one dollar mark are much harder to find. For anyone already planning to buy a dozen, adding another for just 89 cents is about as close to a no-brainer as food deals get.
