Think about how much effort we put into seasoning our dinners. Salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, a little chili if we’re feeling adventurous. We taste, we adjust, we add a bit more of this and that until everything’s just right.

Then dessert rolls around, and suddenly we’re perfectly happy to leave things alone.
Which, to be completely fair, makes sense. If someone hands me a brownie, I’m not usually thinking about what I could sprinkle on it to improve the situation. I’m thinking about eating the brownie.
But Dan-O’s Seasoning has a different idea.
The brand known for its savory seasoning blends is venturing into dessert territory with Dan-O’s Delights, a new range of sweet seasonings, having launched October 23rd. And the first two flavors, Cinn-O Crunch and Choc-O Crunch, have me wondering whether I should be keeping a seasoning shaker next to the sugar bowl.
What Are Dan-O’s New Dessert Seasonings?
Dan-O’s Delights launches with two flavors, both designed to be sprinkled over finished desserts or mixed into recipes while you’re making them.
First up is Cinn-O Crunch, which combines honey, cinnamon, and brown sugar. It’s the sort of flavor combination that’s already doing a lot of heavy lifting in the dessert world, so I can see why Dan-O’s went with it.
The company suggests adding it to cookie dough, swirling it through cinnamon rolls, or stirring it into pancake batter.
The cinnamon rolls caught my attention. Not because I think they need improving, mind you. Not at all. A good cinnamon roll is already a beautiful thing. But if there’s even the slightest chance to make that buttery, cinnamon-sugar situation even better, I’m willing to investigate.
Then there’s Choc-O Crunch, which combines chocolate, honey, brown sugar, and Madagascar vanilla.
Dan-O’s recommends mixing this one into brownies or cookies, or sprinkling it over baked goods once they’re finished. And I have to say, the idea of adding a chocolatey finishing touch to a warm brownie is pretty appealing.
Although I’m curious about how different it would be from simply adding cocoa powder or chocolate shavings. I suppose that’s where the honey, brown sugar, and vanilla come in.
Both seasonings can also be sprinkled over ice cream, yogurt, toast, and fruit, which is probably where I’d get the most use out of them.
Where Can You Buy Dan-O’s Delights?
Dan-O’s Delights launched October 23rd on the Dan-O’s seasoning website, with both Cinn-O Crunch and Choc-O Crunch available in 5-ounce shakers.
Each bottle has a suggested retail price of $8.96, or you can buy both flavors together for $17.92.
For now, Dan-O’s has only confirmed availability through its website, so there’s no word yet on whether the new dessert seasonings will turn up in grocery stores.
I don’t think every dessert needs an extra sprinkle of something. Some things are perfectly good as they are, and I’m certainly not about to start carrying a seasoning shaker around in case someone offers me cake.
But I do like the idea of having something on hand to make an ordinary snack a little more interesting.
I’d probably start with Choc-O Crunch on vanilla ice cream, although Cinn-O Crunch on buttered toast sounds pretty good, too. Come to think of it, maybe Dan-O’s has a pretty strong point.
