One appliance my household would have trouble functioning without is a personal blender. Multiple protein shakes get made every day, so it’s not usual to hear the whirr of a motor at any given time. Because of that, I’ve tried a wide range of blenders at various price points from under $20 to over $100, and I hate to break this news to you: The price makes a difference. While all of my cheap blenders lived a full life until they totally stopped working, I’d pay a little more for one that doesn’t need to be replaced before a year goes by. These days, I almost exclusively use Beast blenders for personal blending, and courtesy of the brand, I had the opportunity to try out the Beast Mega 1200 Stainless Steel Blender.

My Experience with the Beast Stainless Steel Blender

One of my biggest gripes about making smoothies at home is how they can go from nicely icy to runny and liquidy way too fast. In testing out the stainless steel version of the Beast Mega, I hoped that my smoothies would hold their optimal temperature longer. Like other Beast blenders, the Beast Mega 1200 Stainless Steel came with multiple blending vessels and accessories that could easily be swapped out based on my needs. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the interchangeable straw cap.

Unless you’re making extra-large smoothies for yourself or to share, the 1100ml stainless steel cup is a lot for one person. However, I loved that I could be generous with my ingredients and ice, which the Beast blender broke down with ease. Now that I’ve made smoothies with Beast’s Tritan cups and the stainless steel cup, I can say with full confidence that the stainless steel vessel kept my drink cold significantly longer. For once, I finished drinking it before it melted!

Aside from smoothies, you can also use this appliance for food, whether you’re blending vegetables for a seasonal soup, making a puree, or preparing ingredients for a larger recipe. Although the blender only has one button, you can use that button to pulse or run a 1-minute blending cycle. Beast also has a Recipe Blog that you can check out for inspiration.

What Size Stainless Steel Blender Should You Buy

Beast’s stainless steel blenders come in three sizes, and the number refers to the wattage of each blender base. If you primarily use personal blenders or don’t have a lot of counter or storage space, the Mega 1200 may be more than you need. Fortunately, nearly all of the brand’s blenders are available in stainless steel.

  • Mini 600 – Beast’s most compact stainless steel blender produces single-serving drinks, dips, and dishes. It’s a good pick for those who usually blend for one.
  • Mighty 850 – The Mighty 850 functions as a personal blender, but has a larger capacity than the Mini 600. It also comes with more narrow blending vessels than the Mega 1200.
  • Mega 1200 – Beast’s largest blender is best for those who blend multiple drinks at a time, whether it’s smoothies or frozen cocktails. It’s a good choice if you meal prep, especially if you often freeze soup for later, or entertain fairly often.

If you already own a Beast blender, you might be able to upgrade your appliance with a Stainless Steel Essentials Kit that’s available in Mega and Mini + Mighty sizes. You’ll need to check the compatibility of the kits with your blender model as the stainless steel vessels don’t fit older blenders, such as the 1200-watt Beastmode Blender and 1000-watt Beast Health Blender, which can now only be purchased refurbished through Beast ReNew.

Why Stainless Steel Over a Plastic or Glass Blending Vessel?

Insulated stainless steel retains cold temperatures longer than plastic and glass so your smoothie, shake, or homemade Cream Slush can stay frosty. The downside is that you can’t see through stainless steel. So, if you absolutely must have eyes on what’s inside your cup at all times, you’ll either have to empty its contents into another vessel or opt for plastic or glass.

Things You Should Know About Beast’s Stainless Steel Blender

After blending with the stainless steel cup of the Mega 1200, detaching it from the blade base can sometimes be a challenge for some (like me) as it occasionally has an airtight vacuum-like hold fresh off the motor. It eventually releases as you work through turning it, but if you have any mobility issues with your grip, it could be difficult without a tool or another person to help you.
