Well, this doesn’t happen every day: I’ve got a new 7UP flavor to review. Yes, I’ve got my hands on the watermelon and strawberry flavored 7UP Endless Summer. Ohio was truly laughing at me when I found these earlier this month; I had to carry two 12-packs of 7UP Endless Summer through the snow. Let’s see if that arctic trek was worth it.

7UP Endless Summer Watermelon & Strawberry

New 7UP Flavor!

7UP Endless Summer Watermelon & Strawberry

Pros: They put those fruits in the right order, y’all; this is watermelon forward. And it isn’t a “real” watermelon flavor—this is pure candy watermelon. New 7UP Endless Summer is, indeed, a very summery soda.

Cons: The strawberry flavor is here…barely. Normally, strawberry is the stronger flavor in any fruit pairing, so I was surprised and a little let down by the reality of the balance. Also, if there’s any classic 7UP lemon-lime in this recipe, it’s completely drowned out by watermelon. That’s not inherently a bad thing, but I’d never guess this was 7UP in a blind taste test (although the aroma was absolutely 7UP, which is even stranger).

7UP Endless Summer Zero Sugar Watermelon & Strawberry

New 7UP Flavor!

7UP Endless Summer Zero Sugar Watermelon & Strawberry

Pros: The strawberry flavor is a little stronger in the Zero Sugar variant than the regular version.

Cons: But it didn’t make this new 7UP flavor even remotely tolerable! Oh boy, this is one of the worst zero sugar sodas I’ve had in a long time. The artificial sweetener taste stands above any fruit that attempts to reach your tongue. This feels like Orlando Jones just told me to Make 7UP Yours.

Where can I find this new 7UP flavor for myself?

7UP Endless Summer is exclusive, y’all. You’ll have to head to your local Kroger to find it. And before you comment that you don’t live near a Kroger, head to this site and read the list. The Kroger family of stores is the second largest grocery chain in America behind Walmart; are you telling me you don’t live near any of those stores? Do you live on the moon? Get out of my face and go drink some Moon Punch, pal.

How often does 7UP release new flavors?

7UP is pretty quiet compared to Sprite (but still doing more than the relative infant that is Starry). That said, we do see something different from 7UP at least once a year. Pomegranate 7UP pops up during the holidays every few years. Recently, we saw Tropical 7UP go from being a Kroger exclusive to national availability—maybe we’ll see Endless Summer follow that same path if the reception warrants it. A few months ago, I tried the Shirley Temple 7UP to a resounding “eh.” As a whole, 7UP doesn’t bowl me over with their flavor variants, but I’m glad they’re still innovating to try and catch up with Sprite.
