The dead are rising from the grave…and they brought drinks? Jones Soda, truly our most punk rock soda brand, just released the Undead Heroes lineup. As a soda journalist who’s been reading Marvel Zombies comics for a very long time, this feels uniquely targeted to me and me alone. Read on for all the bloody details, nerds.
So these new Jones sodas are…zombie flavored?
Hold your horses, Jones Soda isn’t that brave. These branded flavors are actually four classic flavors with new themed labels to celebrate the release of the upcoming Marvel Zombies miniseries. (In case you haven’t heard, Disney is releasing an animated TV-MA miniseries starring some-to-most of your favorite Marvel characters on both sides of a zombie war. The trailer looks really cool and I’m genuinely surprised they followed up on the extra-bleak pilot episode from their animated anthology series. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.)
Zombie Scarlet Witch haunts Strawberry Lime Soda, Zombie Captain America terrorizes Berry Lemonade, Blade Knight slays Cream Soda, and Zombie Thanos rules over Root Beer. Can you believe there’s no Spider-Man? What timeline do we live in? Oh right, the timeline where Vision captures beloved heroes to feed to his zombified wife.
How often does Jones Soda rebrand their existing flavors?
Oh, so often. In honor of the back-to-school season, Jones Soda released a very cute 12-pack inspired by (and containing a pack of) Crayola crayons. Jones Soda will even rebrand their existing flavors just for you if you’re interested. The myJones process involves picking a label theme, caption, and photo to slap onto your choice of seven different classic Jones Soda flavors. (I am deeply considering custom sodas as wedding favors; it’d be so on brand for me.)
That said, I do wish Jones Soda spent a little more time releasing new flavors (or at least bringing back old ones we haven’t seen in a while). How come the ghouls from Fallout are worth making new flavors for, but the ghouls of Marvel Zombies aren’t?
Where can I get Marvel Zombies Jones Sodas?
Per a single hashtag on the Instagram post announcing this collaboration, these bottles are available “#OnlineOnly” in 12-packs from the Jones Soda webstore. Honestly, this feels like a huge missed opportunity. Do you know where these zombified flavors would have absolutely murdered (sales-wise)? Spirit Halloween. Y’all. Come on.
