Celsius really did take up the spirit of Coca-Cola’s Creations line. Their line of “Vibe” flavors are named after a specific feeling or place, with a flavor profile to match (as best they can). A few days ago, Celsius launched a new limited-time-only addition to the lineup: Spritz Vibe. This energy drink’s flavor is described as “Sparkling Snowball Frost” which is…very little help. Lucky for you, my entire job is to dissect this press release to squeeze out an actual flavor profile. It’s time to hit the slopes and earn my keep.
What do snowballs taste like?
Per the brand, Spritz Vibe is a “velvety mix of winter kissed citrus flavors.” The product images all feature sliced oranges, so we’re basically dealing with a frosty orange energy drink. While that’s still a little oblique, it’s much closer to an actual flavor than “Snowball Frost.” It almost seems like Celsius based an energy drink flavor on a cocktail (*cough*Aperol Spritz*cough*), realized they couldn’t actually put that on the can, and now have to cover their ass with a pile of broad terms to point you in the right direction.
This energy drink is allegedly perfect for “Après-Ski,” the French term for socializing and drinking after skiing. I don’t think I’m in the right tax bracket to comprehend Après-Ski, so I’ll just pretend when I get my hands on a can of Spritz Vibe to review.
Will this new Celsius Vibe be any good?
I have a special relationship with Celsius. The good flavors don’t really stick in my mind, but the bad flavors engrain themselves deep in the soul of my taste buds. (I have no idea how they had enough money to buy Alani Nu, full stop.) I’ve had some rough encounters with Celsius Vibe flavors before—here’s hoping Spritz Vibe can break the chain. If not, I’m going to start a petition that Celsius quit doing anything sparkling and stick to their fantastic Fizz-Free line.
Where can I buy Celsius Spritz Vibe?
Celsius’ first-ever limited-edition flavor will be available at major retailers now through December (while supplies last). I’d expect to see this at Walmart, Target, and select convenience chains.
