Frito-Lay can’t stop, won’t stop. Every time I think I’ve covered all the latest news, more information drops! So, when I attended the NACS Expo (National Association of Convenience Stores), I knew one of my FIRST stops needed to be to the PepsiCo booth to check out the latest in both drinks from PepsiCo and Frito-Lay snacks. Here’s everything I learned—including exciting releases, re-releases, and announcements.
No More Artificial Dyes
In a huge move from Frito-Lay, Lay’s is undergoing a new brand refresh that spotlights the fact that real potatoes are used in their packaging (recent polling found that 42% of consumers did not know they contained real potatoes). At the same time, Frito-Lay is going all-in on products made without artificial flavors or colors from artificial sources. No more Red 40 or Yellow 5 in those Cheetos or Doritos!
Lay’s Baked Chips Get an “Healthier” Upgrade
Another addition to the trend Frito-Lay is calling “better-for-you offerings,” Lay’s will start making their Lay’s Baked line with olive oil instead of corn oil, which will result in potato chips with 50% less fat than regular chips. If I’m being honest, I am optimistic that this may mean an even better flavor.
Frito-Lay will also be introducing a new version of their Kettle Cooked chips: a Kettle Cooked Sea Salt chip made with avocado oil. While no date was given for these releases, expect to see them at the end of 2025 or early 2026.
New and Returning Pickle Cheetos
Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle Cheetos took the world by storm this year and, although I wasn’t overly impressed with them, many of you were. Enough that not only has Frito-Lay decided to make the Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle Cheetos a permanent addition, they’re also adding new Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle Cheetos PUFFS (Review coming soon! Spoiler: I was impressed!).
New Jalapeno Popper Dip Dropping
While I didn’t get to try it at the expo, Frito-Lay broke the news of a new dip that will be hitting shelves in January: Jalapeno Popper Dip! Frito-Lay says it “combines the delicious flavors of creamy cheese and zesty jalapenos into a bold, perfectly balanced medium-heat dip made with real peppers.” Well, sign me right up and bring the Fritos because this sounds like a dip I can get behind!
New Doritos Dinamita: Spicy Cool Ranch
The Dinamita line will see an unexpected expansion with a new Spicy Cool Ranch flavor. I’m told these are coming in 2026 and are sort of like if you spiced up a Cool Ranch Dorito and then rolled it up. Sounds absolutely delicious.
New Snack Mash-Up: Jack Link’s Doritos Nacho Cheese
A new Jack Link’s x Doritos mash-up is coming: Jack Link’s Doritos Nacho Cheese will be available as jerky and meat sticks. I sampled both and they deliver on that traditional nacho-cheesy Doritos flavor that you’d hope for—especially the sticks. This almost makes up for the devastating news I received at the Jack Link’s booth: One of the top items I tried at the Sweets & Snacks Expo, Peanut Butter & Jelly Duos, has been cancelled and will not get a release in 2026.
Plus More Returning Fan Favorites
In addition to all of the excitement listed above, we also found out that the Funyuns x Maruchan Spicy Chicken flavor will be returning for 52 weeks in 2026 (typically this is a signal that they may become a permanent addition if they perform well). Also, Doritos Blazin’ Buffalo & Ranch chips have been made a permanent addition to the lineup. Lots of love for a lot of fan favorites!
