We don’t know if you know this, but Trader Joe’s is pretty popular. Okay, obviously you do know that: The grocery chain is absolutely everywhere, with stores in 43 states and showing no signs of stopping. People just can’t get enough of that trademark Trader Joe’s vibe (and, of course, of its unique and often seriously tasty products), and it’s especially popular in bigger cities like New York, New York. Trader Joe’s currently has 10 stores in The Big Apple, leaving New Yorkers spoiled for choice.
Let’s be real, though: We all want to go to the best version of a store that we can find, right? So, if you’re living in New York, we’re not gonna gatekeep that one. One Trader Joe’s does it better than any other in the city, according to the good folks over on Yelp, and it’s the Harlem store located at 123 W 125th Street, just down from Harlem-125th Street Station and a block away from the Apollo Theater. Grab your groceries, and then take in a show.
Yelp Reviewers Love the Customer Service at the Trader Joe’s in Harlem
So, what’s the Harlem Trader Joe’s getting so right? As it turns out, quite a lot. One thing that Yelpers repeatedly highlight in their reviews is the customer service and the friendliness of the store’s staff. The friendliness of its employees has been mentioned again and again as one of the main upsides of shopping there, with workers often praised for going out of their way to help customers find those tasty Trader Joe’s snacks and its delicious sausages. Oh, and its awesome ice cream, too. Did we mention we love this store? Like, a lot?
Honestly, the customer service here is no small thing to mention: New York is famous for being a dog-eat-dog city, where pleasantries aren’t exactly top of the agenda. At this Trader Joe’s, though, customers have found a little oasis amidst all the chaos, and a place where they can have a nice interaction while they’re getting their goods.
Its Spaciousness Is Also A Big Plus
You know what’s also not in rich abundance in a city like NYC? Space – and that’s exactly why people love this TJ’s. Yelpers have highlighted its roomy proportions as a key draw. This makes sense, given that it was built just a couple of years ago, and so we suspect that the bigwigs over at Trader Joe’s had learned by 2024 that customers want the ability to spread out, especially in its infamously cramped stores, where you can end up colliding with your fellow shoppers very easily.
The fact that the Harlem location has elevator access is also a big plus. Oh, and as you’d hope, it has all of the Trader Joe’s goodies that we’ve come to know and love over the years, and some of the new things you can buy there in 2026. If you need the bathroom, though, it is worth noting that this TJ’s doesn’t have one, so you may have to go elsewhere.
