Back in November, I covered the first reliable leaks revealing Red Bull Spring Edition 2026: Cherry Sakura. Three months later, I have a can of that very Red Bull in front of me. (Those manifestation folks are onto something.)
Ten years after Red Bull Japan released a Cherry Blossom energy drink as their first-ever Spring Edition, we get to enjoy our own version here in America. Let’s find out whether this quintessentially-Japanese flavor was worth the wait.
Thanks to Red Bull for sending over a few cans of this new Spring Edition to review. Stay tuned for a follow-up review of Red Bull Sugarfree Spring Edition 2026 as soon as I get my hands on it!
- Red Bull Spring Edition 2026: Cherry Sakura

Pros: I was hit with a single nostalgic aroma the second I opened the can: Cherry Jolly Rancher, and a lot of it. It was a huge relief when I took a sip and found out the aroma didn’t embody the entire flavor.
If you’re not usually a fan of floral flavors, this Cherry Sakura energy drink may change your mind. I have no idea how Red Bull managed to balance all this bright cherry sweetness with the grounding floral nature of sakura, but you genuinely taste both sides in equal measures. I hope we see this flavor return in the future…but not if it means discontinuing my other beloved white-can-clad Red Bull: Coconut Berry.
Cons: I already know this full-sugar Cherry Sakura drink will offend the portion of the population traumatized by too much cherry cough syrup as a child. The syrupy texture of a full-sugar energy drink easily lends itself to that cough syrup comparison regardless of flavor, so the sugar free version will likely hit better with that audience.

What’s coming next from Red Bull after Spring Edition 2026: Cherry Sakura?
While this hasn’t been confirmed yet (for obvious reasons), Red Bull Summer Edition 2026 is allegedly going to be Sudachi Lime flavored. Sudachi is a Japanese citrus fruit popularly used as a flavoring in place of lemon or lime. As I said in my initial coverage, Sudachi Lime feels very similar to Cherry Sakura, pairing a flavor familiar to Americans with an exotic flavor already proven successful in other countries. Stay tuned to Sporked for further developments in the Red Bull space; I’m already digging for details on Red Bull Winter Edition 2026.
