We think it’s fair to say that people haven’t universally loved what’s been happening in Costco food courts recently. The retailer is always changing things up there, but in the last few months, said changes in its US food court have been received fairly poorly by customers. Its new churro sundae divided its fans; its new hot dog deal wasn’t what it cracked up to be; and its decision to remove the Combo Calzone and replace it with chicken strips hasn’t been the resounding success it probably hoped for.

So, it’s a breath of fresh air to bring you some news that Costco fans are happy about. Costco’s brought its deli mustard back, and people are rejoicing. Here’s what we know.
Hello, Old Friend…
News of Costco’s deli mustard returning to its food courts came, as most things do these days, via Reddit – and while it started to pop up a few months back, this seems to be a slightly gradual rollout of a returning favorite, with more people reporting its presence in the last couple of weeks. For those who may not know, or who might be new Costco members, its deli mustard was a pre-pandemic fave at its condiment stations. This grainy mustard had a touch more earthiness and a bit more nuance than its regular yellow mustard (which, admittedly, is still good).
Then, during the pandemic, it disappeared, and only the standard yellow mustard remained. Well, not anymore. Customers have been noticing that deli mustard is back in their food courts, giving them hope of a brighter future. Well, a brighter future for their takeout Costco food, anyway.
A Prepared Food Renaissance
Although Costco’s food court might be a tad up and down of late (although this mustard news might change people’s opinions a little), it’s really pulling out the stops elsewhere. Its prepared food section is one such place. Costco’s just brought back its gyro kit, and trust us when we say people are gonna be pleased about it, considering how big a hit this meal was last time it was around.
Over at the Costco bakery, there’s more good news. The store has heralded the return of its pistachio cheesecake and of its peaches and cream cake, both of which have been fan favorites for a minute. Now, if it could just find a way to put those items in the food court, so we could enjoy them all without having to take them home first, then that’d be just swell. Your move, Costco.
