In case you had somehow managed to miss all the hype swirling around the World Cup for the last few months (and, to be honest, beyond that), here’s your reminder that it starts this week. Yes, from Thursday onward, the globe will be plunged into a soccer frenzy. To be honest, now that we’re almost at the point of first kick-off, we thought we might have seen every food brand that’s releasing a World Cup-themed product or experience do so by this point – but oh, were we mistaken. In the last week, the likes of Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, and Baskin-Robbins have come forward with new soccer-related treats and tie-ins for us all to enjoy.

And now, it’s 7-Eleven’s turn – and the convenience store is offering what it calls an “experience,” which fans will no doubt enjoy. Let’s break it down.

7-Eleven’s FanLand Experience: Get Into The Spirit!

7-Eleven announced its FanLand experience in a press release, in which it stated that it was transforming its stores (as well as its Speedway and Stripe stores) “into the ultimate destination for fans everywhere.” What this actually looks like is not some kind of theme park-esque rejig for the duration of the tournament, but rather, a selection of deals and new menu items running either at key times or throughout the games. “With big deals and gameday favorites, 7-Eleven makes it easy for soccer fans to fill up with their favorite beverage, grab a bite and share in the match-day energy together – no matter who they’re rooting for this summer,” said 7-Eleven’s senior vice president of restaurant operations and innovation, William Armstrong, in a statement.

And What Are These Deals And New Menu Items?

I’m glad you asked! Here’s what 7-Eleven’s got in store:

  • $3 Quesadillas: From June 11 at Laredo Taco Company locations, you can grab chicken or cheese quesadillas for $3 each.
  • 2 for $5 El GOAL-AZO Tacos: Again at Laredo Taco Company restaurants, you can grab two of these new tacos, with chorizo, egg, crispy fried potatoes, queso, and habañero salsa, for $5 a pop. These will be available until June 23.
  • G.O.A.T. Hot Chicken Sandwich: Once again available through June 23, 7-Eleven’s Raise the Roost restaurants have a new chicken tender sandwich, with the chicken tossed in Nashville Hot Sauce and crowned with dill pickles.
  • $6 Big Kick Off Box: Raise The Roost locations’ second offer, a box featuring two tenders, two sides, a biscuit, and a dipping sauce. Available through June 23.
  • 7NOW Delivery Deals: 7-Eleven’s running discount codes on specific days, like $10 off orders of more than $30 with the promo code USA10 on June 12, or FAN10 on June 19.
  • Exclusive Drinks: 7-Eleven’s offering an exclusive electrolyte drink, Pineapple Coconut Electrolit, through the games, which it says “delivers MVP-level hydration with a tropical twist.”

Is This Really An Experience?

I mean, if we’re being totally honest about it, it’s not an enormous transformation from 7-Eleven. When we think of the word “experience” in food terms, we’re thinking more like Lay’s bandwagon pop-up, which offered a series of events for fans to attend and get involved with. That said, we do like how many deals there are going on here – so it’s hardly the worst thing in the world, right?
