The value menu is still alive and kicking (although how much they actually offer true value is constantly being debated), but everything feels a liiiittle more expensive than it used to. Value menus used to be about spending a dollar or two and getting a couple of things that may not fill you up, but which would hit the spot. Now, restaurants feel like they’re trying to show customers that while they have to spend a bit more on their value meals (thanks to good ol’ INFLATION), they’ll get more in return.

That seems to be the case with Whataburger’s new value menu – or “value platform” – which has a couple of slightly more elevated options, if you’re willing to pay for them. Let’s discuss.
Whataburger More For $4
Yesterday, Whataburger announced its More for $4 platform, which gives customers the choice of four sandwiches for $4 apiece. Whataburger fans will be able to choose from the Bacon & Cheese Whataburger Jr., Whataburger Patty Melt Jr., Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich Jr., and Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strip Sandwich Jr. for this price – and if they want to, they can make it a meal for $3 more, adding small fries and a drink.
Now, granted, $7 for a full meal doesn’t feel much like a true value offer – but the sandwiches you’re getting are likely going to feel more substantial than the likes of what you’d get elsewhere. This is the chain that beat out McDonald’s and Wendy’s for having the best value burger, after all, with its sandwiches giving you the most bang for your buck (or, more accurately, meat for your buck – Whataburger’s burgers are notably heavier per dollar than its competitors). It’s also a gentle improvement on Whataburger’s own previous value offer: Back in January, it unveiled its new Whatadeal menu, offering its Bacon & Cheese Whataburger Jr. for $5. Now, you get an extra dollar off.
And Something For The Kids
Alongside its new More for $4 menu/platform/whatever you wanna call it, Whataburger is refining its Jr. Whatameal lineup, with its All-Time Favorite and limited-time Jr. Whatameals now including a small fries and a drink across the board. Whatatreat. Whatadelight. Whatacompleteexperience. Okay, I’ll stop.
Whataburger’s new $4 offer is available now at its restaurants. And while you’re there, linger a while and try its new Peaches & Cream Shake and Hot Honey Pimento Chicken Sandwich. Not to tell you what to do, of course, but we tried both of them, and they’re pretty good.
