We here at Sporked are dedicated to knowing about pretty much everything that’s going on in and around the food space. One of our favorite areas to watch is new menu items coming to fast food locations, especially since they’re likely to be available to our widest range of readers. But in the midst of all chaos of Taco Bell‘s newest launch that throws back to 2016 favorites, they were able to quietly launch a brand new loaded fries option right under our noses.

The new launch comes at an interesting time for the company and it seems like pretty much everything on the menu is new and very intriguing. So, it makes sense that this wasn’t at the forefront of Taco Bell’s marketing prioritization. But that doesn’t mean we’re not gonna let you in on the scoop about what this new item is and whether or not we’re into it. Let’s break it down, shall we?

The Rundown On The New Loaded Fries

The new loaded fries at Taco Bell are called their Chicken Enchilada Nacho Fries. Naturally, they made with the bed of Taco Bell’s quintessential nacho fries that are perplexingly good. When compared to other fast food fries, Taco Bell’s nacho fries stood out in flavor and execution in a way that we legitimately didn’t expect. Not only is the seasoning bold, but it is complex in a way that actually stands up to the flavor of some pretty average nacho cheese in a way that makes a really nice bite. The fries themselves even had some serious consideration for the number one seed of fast food French fries. So, for these loaded fries to start off with a base of these fries is a pretty good loading point already.

As for the toppings on these loaded fries, there’s nothing too revolutionary going on, but that doesn’t mean these aren’t going to be a new standout hit. The fries are topped with the pulled, slow-roasted chicken, the three cheese blend, nacho cheese, pico de gallo, fiesta strips, and reduced-fat sour cream. Just to get it out of the way, I really don’t understand the choice to go with reduced-fat sour cream in this setting. They’re pretty obviously not a diet food in any capacity and I can’t imagine it’s actually gonna make the flavor any better to go with the lower fat option.

Enchiladas + Fries Sound Pretty Perfect

Beyond that, though, all the flavors of the toppings sound great. It seems like they would go over really well together in a loaded French fry setting. I mean, it really does sound like a alternative version to nachos. The thing that I do find a little bit strange about it is the addition of the shredded cheese blend as well as nacho cheese. But, that said, I understand the decisions since you would typically top enchiladas with shredded cheese and you would expect some kind of nacho cheese on a nacho, too. So when emerging the two dishes the combination makes more sense.

Overall, we’re excited to see how these new loaded fries hold up and if they’re even worth trying them out. Rest assured, dear reader, you can always count on Sporked to let you know. Stay tuned.
