It feels strange to think of s’mores as a seasonal food, but they sort of are. They belong, in my view, in camping season – and while their individual ingredients are fairly timeless, it’s the combination of them that evokes sitting around a fire, getting frustrated putting up tents, lying uncomfortably on a sleeping mat, etc. Can you tell I hate camping from this? Probably. But I don’t have s’mores. Love ‘em. Can’t get enough.

So it’s slightly surprising that Drumstick has elected to drop a s’mores-flavored ice cream cone in the run-up to Christmas, but that’s the situation we find ourselves in, and honestly, we’re not complaining. ‘Cos this sounds good.
Drumstick Toasted S’Mores
Drumstick is due to release its new Toasted S’Mores flavor in the very near future, according to @markie_devo. Now, crucially, these are different from Drumstick’s pre-existing S’Mores selection, which has three flavors – Chocolate Marshmallow, Toasted Marshmallow, and Toasted Marshmallow with Fudge – in one pack. Toasted S’Mores is an individual flavor on its own, and it looks as though it has a chocolate center, either a vanilla or a marshmallow-flavored frozen dessert, a caramel coating, and a graham cracker crust. There’s also a chocolate nugget at the bottom of the cone, for a bit of extra joy at the end. Or the beginning, if that’s how you wanna tackle your dessert.
Drumstick Toasted S’Mores doesn’t have an official release date yet, but when it arrives, it’ll be available at major retailers, presumably nationwide. News of this new flavor has arrived just a week after Drumstick’s new Strawberry Shortcake cone, which is also on its way to stores – and which also has a retro flavor profile. The watchword for all of these is nostalgia.
Summer In Winter
Like its Strawberry Shortcake flavor, though, Drumstick’s new Toasted S’Mores flavor has the distinct feel of summer. It makes you wonder why the brand has elected to drop them as we move into the colder months of the year, really. That said, while s’mores do feel like slightly warmer weather fare (what with the camping of it all), I’d also argue they’re a better fit for Christmas than Strawberry Shortcake. Marshmallows. Fires. Cozy vibes. Maybe they aren’t seasonal after all; maybe they’re universal. A s’more for every day of the year. And hey, if Crumbl’s releasing its new s’mores cookie in the middle of fall, why can’t Drumstick do the same thing?
