You don’t need me to tell you that fast food prices have gotten more expensive. We all know it has. For much of this year, headlines about restaurants like Chipotle, McDonald’s, and so many others have focused on how pricey their food has become – and people are understandably looking for ways to keep their costs down. That’s why some customers have been making the switch to Burger King, but even then, folks have found its prices to be on the steeper side. Finding fast food refuge in these cash-strapped times is harder than it looks.

Luckily, though, a recent Reddit thread exposed a Burger King hack that sidesteps its more costly adult combo meals and delivers a bumper crop of food for a reasonable price. You might just have to be comfortable ordering from the kids’ menu and have a certain membership.
Burger King Kids’ Menu Hack
The Reddit thread in question, which popped up earlier this week, explained how you can get a cheeseburger, onion rings, and dessert for under $4. First off, you have to have a Walmart+ membership, which gives Burger King customers 25% off one order per day. Then, you order a Kids’ Cheeseburger meal and ask for an extra patty (thereby bulking out the smaller burger), onion rings on the side, and ask for a soft serve instead of the toy.
The total cost for all this, according to the Redditor who posted it, is $3.88 plus tax – far cheaper than if you were ordering even a small Cheeseburger Meal from its adult menu. Now, obviously, there are a few caveats here: If you’re not a Walmart+ member, you won’t be able to get down to this price quite as easily, and that itself costs money (although it might be worth noting that if you’re a Sam’s Club member already, you now get Walmart+ perks included). If you don’t have kids, you also have to stomach the potential embarrassment of asking for a meal designed for them. Honestly, though? No one really bats an eyelid, and this is as good a way as any to get a decent amount of food for not that much money.
Hack The System!
Once this hack was laid bare, others in the Reddit thread began piping up with their own contributions. “I think two small (value) fries is actually cheaper and more fries than one large fries,” said one Redditor (and by the nutrition information for both, it appears they might be right). Elsewhere, though, customers did point out that the kids’ menu hack may not quite result in a sub-$4 meal; it depends on prices in your local area. That said, if you’re looking to save a few dollars, it’s not a bad option wherever you are – and even if you don’t have a Walmart+ membership, you’ll probably still cut down on your spend.
