One easy thing to love about 7-Eleven: you can get a lot of pretty good things for a pretty good price, often at a wildly socially unacceptable hour. Also during regular business hours (though somehow a hot dog is just tastier if you really wanted one at 2AM). But it really has become America’s convenience store.

And, like a few other American fast food staples we know, 7-Eleven is kind of going through a revamping phase at the moment―which, yes, will include some 645 store closures this year alone, but also includes some new stores, new standards, and a major emphasis on food. And while a lot of the changes are still to come, we’re going to assume 7-Eleven’s recent announcement of a pizza upgrade is part of the company’s bright-and-shiny, food-focused future.
7-Eleven Has Pizza?
Yes, 7-Eleven has pizza. It’s just that most of us didn’t notice 7-Eleven had pizza in any kind of important way. (Again, hence this year’s major rebranding and overhaul of 7-Eleven food identity in general). And while that sounds dire, even if an upgrade is promised, it’s a bit hopeful to know there is actually a kind of culinary focus in play here: the pizza crust.
Per 7-Eleven’s own press release, for a limited time, participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes stores will be “taking pizza to the next level with the introduction of a new crust that is crafted for a seriously satisfying bite.” Yes, that’s as vague as you like, but they do go on to explain that by their corporate interpretation, at least, a “satisfying” pizza crust bite has a “crisp outside and light, airy inside” (we’re guessing intentionally suggestive of Neapolitan style).
Is This A Sample Slice Of The New 7-Eleven?
It’s actually an interesting and semi-important (almost timid, since it’s limited) release. 7-Eleven is clearly testing the waters of what its new food identity will be. And while Americans will get pizza pretty much wherever and however we can get it, 7-Eleven has never been seasonal stomping grounds for a slice.
Corporate is clearly aware of that, because not only are they launching this magical crust nationwide (again, for a limited time and at participating stores), but they’re tacking a bunch of deals onto it, as follows: mix and match any two pizza slices for $5; get a $4 slice and a soda (for 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members); and/or get a large whole pizza for just $6.99 through the 7NOW Delivery app.
7-Eleven pizza flavors are cheese, pepperoni, or 3-Meat, “piled high with pepperoni, sausage and bacon.”
