It’s good to be in the know about things. As someone who used to shop at Publix regularly and completely ignored the bakery section (idiot—that’s the best part!), there are items at certain grocery stores you just don’t want to miss out on.

But I’m not here to talk about Publix. This is Aldi’s time to shine. Whether you’re new to Aldi and trying to see what’s good or just hoping to upgrade your shopping list, we’ve done some research into what shoppers swear by. (Thanks, Reddit.) Keep in mind: Many of these items go in and out stock throughout the year. That’s just the way Aldi rolls. It sort of makes you covet them even more, you know?
Anyways, onto the lists! (If we missed your favorites, let us know in the comments and I’ll seriously consider adding them!)
Apps and Mains
- Pepper Jack Stuffed Pretzel Bites. We’ve had a rough time finding good frozen appetizers from Aldi, but these cheesy pretzel bites have a good reputation behind them.
- Fusia Asia Frozen Kimbap and/or other sushi rolls. Different versions go in and out of stock (e.g. their California Rolls), but people find this “emergency sushi” surprisingly good quality
- Creamy Wonton Stuffed Shrimp
- Fremont Fish Market Breaded Cod Fillet & Chips. Another seasonal item from the frozen section that people praise for a simple, cheap, easy meal.
- Priano Chicken Parmesan Patties
- Salmon Burger Patties
- Deutsche Küche Pork Schnitzel. If any grocery store is going to make a good schnitzel, it’s Aldi. My only complaint with this item is the price ($9.99), which is a little high for this store, but the authenticity makes up for it.
Snacks and Desserts
- Envy apples. Many, many people swear by the Envy apples at Aldi.
- Clancy’s Onion Rings. These are basically a Funyuns dupe, and they’re delicious.
- Clancy’s Cinnamon Churros
- Ice cream sandwiches. Shoppers recommend the stroopwafel ice cream sandwiches, macaron ice cream sandwiches, and the strawberry crunch ice cream bars
- Mango and Chili Goat Log. To anyone hosting a party: this Emporium Selection cheese log is a game-changer, holidays or not.
- Specially Selected Mascarpone Strudel Apple. Again, if any store can make a good strudel, it’s Aldi. This one can be tricky to find—it goes in and out of stock pretty quickly—so grab it if you have the chance.
And because I simply can’t help myself, here are three Sporked recs for Aldi shoppers based on our taste tests.
We will forever praise the Specially Selected Premium Marinara Sauce from Aldi, which is absolutely a Rao’s marinara dupe, through and through. (At nearly half the price.)
For breakfast, Aldi’s Millville Honey Wheat Puffs (their take on Honey Smacks) is our favorite cereal you can find at the store. They taste very fresh, crisp, and have a perfect honey sweetness level.
And while we second every ice cream sandwich rec from Redditors online, the very best ice cream pint at Aldi is their Specially Selected Dulce de Leche.
And if you’re still curious, we have a whole list of the best Aldi products from all of our taste tests. Okay, toodles!!
