Wondering what to buy at Aldi? We regularly wander the aisles, looking for the best Aldi products to try for our taste tests or sample just for fun. (We live in a tough world, sometimes you have to find joy in the simple things, like a new frozen shrimp.) So, you can trust us when it comes to the best Aldi buys.

Here are the 18 best Aldi products, according to our taste tests.

Simply Nature Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt

Best Aldi Granola

Simply Nature Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Granola

Much like Trader Joe’s, Aldi is a great store if you’re looking for unique takes on snacks. And this is one of the best Aldi products that really made us raise an eyebrow. This dark chocolate granola is bitter like cocoa, actually salty, and unusual in a way that keeps you grabbing for cluster after cluster. And speaking of clusters, these are solid granola clusters that hold together—no dust in this bag.

Deutsche Kuche Uncured Bavarian Bratwurst

Best Aldi Bratwurst

Deutsche Kuche Uncured Bavarian Bratwurst

Aldi’s Bavarian brats beat out Trader Joe’s Bavarian brats in a head-to-head competition within our best brat taste test. They may not be as big, but their flavor is much better. As managing editor Gwynedd Stuart described it in her review, “You get pepper and herbs and a little bit of underlying sweetness.” They’re classic Bavarian brats. Enjoy one with a boot full of Oktoberfest.

Live G Free Spinach

Best Aldi GF Tortillas

Live G Free Spinach

We included two gluten-free tortillas from Aldi in our best gluten-free tortillas ranking—the Live G Free Original flavor and the Live G Free Spinach flavor. The spinach has the edge, though, thanks to the sheer amount of spinach, dill, and garlic flavor the gluten-free tortilla packs. However, if you’re in the mood for something plain, the original flavor won’t let you down. They’re big, they’re stretchy, and they’ll hold all your fillings together.

Burman’s Avocado Serrano Sauce

Best Aldi Hot Sauce

Burman’s Avocado Serrano Sauce

You might not expect an avocado sauce to actually pack heat, but Aldi’s green hot sauce is both creamy and spicy, with a little bit of tang, too. Sporked senior staff writer, Jordan Myrick, regularly uses this sauce on their frozen chicken burritos. That’s real life endorsement of one of the best things to buy at Aldi.

Simms Original Biltong

Best Aldi Beef Jerky

Simms Original Biltong

While Aldi’s Simms brand of regular beef jerky is totally acceptable, the biltong (a South African style of dried meat) is much more interesting. It tastes like Italian bresaola. It’s very meat-forward, extremely thinly sliced, and easy to eat handful after handful. It’s one of the best Aldi products for on-the-job snacking, perfect for slipping into a desk drawer.

Emporium Selection Not Your Average Cheddar Cheddar & Parmesan

Best Aldi Cheese

Emporium Selection Not Your Average Cheddar Cheddar & Parmesan

While we did really like the fresh mozzarella (and the blue cheese crumbles, and the dill havarti), this cheesy hybrid took the top spot in our best Aldi cheese ranking. It’s tangy, savory, and a little bit funky. Perfect for snacking or crumbling onto a cheese board.

Appleton Farms Gourmet Thick Sliced Applewood Smoked Bacon

Aldi’s bacon came in shockingly high up in our best bacon ranking. This is one of the best things at Aldi if you are in need of a fatty, diner-style breakfast. The thick slices of bacon are great on the side of some scrambled eggs or wrapped up in a breakfast burrito.

Best Aldi Protein Bar

Elevation Chocolate Peanut Butter High Protein Bars

Here’s one of the best things at Aldi to stock up on: protein bars! They can be so expensive, but they’re cheap at Aldi and the peanut butter flavored bar tastes incredible. The peanut butter is creamy and salty, it’s crispy and smooth. It’s dipped in chocolate. And it packs 20g protein without any protein aftertaste!

Kirkwood Chicken Fries

There aren’t many brands of frozen chicken fries on the market but you’ll find some of the best at Aldi. These taste like long, finger-shaped chicken nuggets. Out of the 21 different Aldi cereals we tasted, this Honey Smacks dupe was the very best. It’s sweet but not too sweet, crispy but not tooth-shatteringly crunchy, and an all around delightful way to start the day. If you’re wondering what to buy at Aldi for breakfast, wonder no more.

Moser Roth Toffee Crunch

Best Aldi Chocolate

Moser Roth Toffee Crunch

We tasted 28 different Aldi chocolates. That’s a lot of chocolate. And a lot of it is pretty good. But this chocolate bar is the best. It has lots of little, tiny bits of toffee, so it almost becomes a toffee version of a Crunch bar—but with a better quality chocolate base.

Park Street Deli Original Potato Salad

Best Aldi Potato Salad

Park Street Deli Original Potato Salad

Who would have thought that one of the best Aldi buys would be potato salad? But Aldi’s classic, premade potato salad really wowed us. The potatoes are cooked perfectly—they’re tender without being crumbly, firm without being crunchy. The seasoning is just right and there’s enough mayo to hold everything together.

Appleton Dry Cured Ham Prosciutto

Best Aldi Deli Meat

Appleton Dry Cured Ham Prosciutto

This is not only one of the best Aldi foods, it’s also the best prosciutto we tasted in our prosciutto taste test. It’s meaty and nutty and fills your mouth with fatty, porky flavor. You can use it on a charcuterie board and everyone will think you went to a fancy store to buy it. But it’s cheap enough that you can layer it onto a sandwich, as well. Try it with some of Aldi’s fresh mozzarella—one of the top Aldi cheeses we tried.
