National food holidays have gotten a little out of hand.

Every other day seems to celebrate something. National Donut Day. National French Fry Day. National Fried Chicken Day. If a food exists, chances are someone has given it a date on the calendar… and a brand has turned it into a promotion. But National Auntie Day feels different.
Not because it’s bigger than the rest, but because one brand was practically destined to celebrate it.
On July 26th, Auntie Anne’s is celebrating National Auntie Day with a buy-one-get-one pretzel offer for Auntie Anne’s Rewards members, along with a limited-edition collaboration with Little Words Project, the jewelry brand known for its word bracelets. The campaign celebrates not just biological aunts, but also the mentors, family friends, and chosen aunties who show up, cheer people on, and generally make life a little better.
For a company literally called Auntie Anne’s, it may be the most on-brand promotion of the year.
It’s More Than Just A Pretzel Deal
The centerpiece of the promotion is simple enough. Rewards members who purchase any pretzel item on July 26th can receive an Original or Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel for free. But the company is also leaning into the emotional side of the holiday.
Auntie Anne’s has partnered with Little Words Project on a limited-edition bracelet inspired by the chain’s signature colors. Select stores around the country will give the bracelets away with qualifying purchases while supplies last, while a limited number will also be available online beginning July 20th.
It’s a surprisingly thoughtful twist on a pretzel promotion—and one that feels genuinely on-brand for a company that’s always sold more than just soft pretzels.
Brands Love Holidays They Can Own
More brands are looking for smaller holidays that feel authentic rather than forcing themselves into bigger celebrations alongside everyone else. National Donut Day belongs to every donut chain. National Ice Cream Day is packed with competing freebies. National Auntie Day, though? That’s a holiday almost tailor-made for Auntie Anne’s.
Instead of focusing entirely on discounts, the company is tying the promotion back to the idea of the “auntie” as someone who offers encouragement, support, and unconditional love—whether they’re actually related to you or not.
It’s a clever way to give the brand a little more personality than another limited-time offer ever could.
A Promotion That Actually Makes Sense
Let’s be honest: plenty of food holidays feel like they exist because someone in marketing needed a reason to run a sale. This one doesn’t.
If your brand is called Auntie Anne’s, celebrating National Auntie Day feels less like a marketing stunt and more like the easiest decision you’ll make all year. Sure, the free pretzel is nice. But finding the one holiday your brand was practically built for? That might be the best part.
