7 Buffalo Wild Wings Sauces, Ranked

Buffalo Wild Wings is so much more than just a chain restaurant where you can watch a game and eat a full farm’s worth of chicken wings. It’s a household brand. If you look for wing sauce at a grocery store, you won’t so much find a wing sauce section as you will find the Buffalo Wild Wings sauces section, featuring everything from Parmesan Garlic to classic Buffalo to Mango Habanero.

But how do you navigate your way through the array of Buffalo Wild Wings wings sauces that are available to you? And what’s the very best Buffalo Wild Wings sauce? I assume that’s why you’re here. And you came to the right place. Because we tried seven different Buffalo Wild Wings sauces and ranked them. We evaluated these sauces primarily on flavor, though usefulness certainly came into play (if they seemed good for more than just wings, that was a bonus point), as well as texture. The best Buffalo Wild Wings sauce should be thick enough to cling to a wing, after all.

Turn on “the game,” pour yourself a brewski, and belly up to seven different Buffalo Wild Wings sauces, ranked.

Buffalo Wild Wings Spicy Garlic Sauce

Spicy Garlic Sauce

Buffalo Wild Wings Spicy Garlic Sauce

Out of all the Buffalo Wild Wings sauces we tried, this was only one I might turn down if offered. The garlic tastes like jarred garlic (jarlic) that’s gone a bit off. Overall, it tastes fake and strangely tangy. That said, the heat is good; it follows through on its spicy promise. But I want more than just decent spice out of my BW3 sauces.

Buffalo Wild Wings Southwestern Ranch Sauce

Southwestern Ranch

Buffalo Wild Wings Southwestern Ranch Sauce

I didn’t get much Southwestern flavor from this Buffalo Wild Wings sauce. I was hoping for some smoky ancho chile, maybe, or, at least, some paprika. Alas, this simply tastes like ranch. It’s not smoky. It’s not spicy. It’s just ranch. It’s fine. But there are better ranches out there—in fact, we have a ranking of the best ranch dressing that lists them.

Buffalo Wild Wings Medium Sauce

Medium Sauce

Buffalo Wild Wings Medium Sauce

This is a good, solid Buffalo sauce. It’s zingy and tangy and buttery and the heat is, indeed, medium. But my favorite part is that it tastes a little bit like celery! It’s like the full Buffalo wing experience—just without the actual wing. All you need to do is add chicken! It’s not the best Buffalo Wild Wing sauce, but it’s the one to buy if you’re making classic Buffalo anything—chicken, cauliflower, pizza, whatever.

Buffalo Wild Wings Parmesan Garlic Sauce

Parmesan Garlic Sauce

This is the wild card of the bunch. It’s packed with Italian herbs and little bits of red pepper, too. I’ve never had a chunky wing sauce before—and I didn’t think I ever wanted to have one—but this chewy Buffalo Wild Wings sauce is actually pretty darn good. What’s this sauce for? Honestly, it’s unclear. I think it’s too chunky to slather onto wings, but it would be good to dip wings into. It tastes a bit like a spicy caesar dressing—much spicier than you would think. Honestly, this is the best Buffalo Wild Wings sauce to spread on a sandwich. Go rogue.

Buffalo Wild Wings Mango Habanero Sauce

Mango Habanero Sauce

Buffalo Wild Wings Mango Habanero Sauce

Don’t underestimate this Buffalo Wild Wings sauce. Just because it comes from a chain restaurant, doesn’t mean it isn’t packing serious heat. My mouth was on fire after the tiniest taste. This is, essentially, hot sauce masquerading as a wing sauce. But it’s delicious. The mango provides a fruity, tropical backbone for the fruity, peppery habanero heat. It makes you sweat but you just can’t stop coming back for more. It’s definitely the best Buffalo Wild Wings sauce if you’re a heat seeker.

Buffalo Wild Wings Asian Zing Sauce

Asian Zing Sauce

Buffalo Wild Wings Asian Zing Sauce

This sauce really has it all. It’s savory, it’s sweet, it’s garlicky, and it’s spicy as hell. Seriously, you wouldn’t expect it, but Buffalo Wild Wings Asian Zing Sauce (which I naively assumed would be mild) absolutely clobbers you with heat. While this would absolutely be one of the top Buffalo Wild Wings sauces to use on chicken wings, it would also be a great dipping sauce for dumplings or egg rolls.

Buffalo Wild Wings Honey BBQ Sauce

Honey BBQ Sauce

Buffalo Wild Wings Honey BBQ Sauce

Behold, the best Buffalo Wild Wings sauce. It tastes like good fast food BBQ sauce—but with more spice than any fast food place would feel comfortable serving. If you coat fried or baked wings in this thick, sweet, absolutely honey-rich sauce, you better stock up on extra napkins. Because people are going to be grabbing the wings by the fistful. It’s also one of the top BW3 sauces for dipping fries or nuggets. If you’re looking for a single, crowd-pleasing sauce out of all the Buffalo Wild Wings wings sauces, this is it.
