Sporked Awards: Best Candy

This was a hard category to decide. A lot of new candy came out in 2024. Big shoutout to the somewhat divisive Kit Kat Ghost Toast and a huge congratulations to the triumphant return of Altoid Sours aka Retro Sours. It really came down to the best candies of 2024 that we simply cannot stop thinking about—the ones we’re going to buy (or have already bought) with our hard earned cash. Here’s the best candy we tasted in 2024.

Sockerbit Sour Mix

Runner Up

Sockerbit Sour Mix

Swedish candy is having a U.S. moment, and Sockerbit Sour Mix is the best intro to the whimsical world of these European gummies. This mix is filled with a variety of tart and tangy flavors in all different shapes and sizes. You get Sour Skulls, Sour Boats, Sour Octopus, Sour Rambos, Sour Bottles, Sour Pacifiers, Sour Clocks—how fun is that?! And if you’re not into sour candy, we ranked the Sockerbit Sweet Mix just as high as the sours in our Swedish candy ranking.

Werther's Candy Apple Hard Candies

Winner

Werther’s Candy Apple Hard Candies

If you thought that Werther’s were only for old ladies to unwrap in a movie theater, well, then we’re a bunch of old ladies, because these new Werther’s candies are fan-effing-tastic. These green-and-tan swirled hard candies combine buttery, salty caramel with just a hint of sour green apple. They are sophisticated and complex and really make you rethink hard candies and how underappreciated they are.
