Sporked Awards: Best Condiment

Forget a beverage fridge; if we could afford it, we’d have a condiment fridge. Because we love sauces! We love dips! And there are so many good ones out there in the grocery world. We tried a ton of condiments in 2024, but two very different ranch dressings took the top two slots. Here are the best condiments we tried this past year.

Trader Joe’s Buttermilk Ranch

Runner Up

Trader Joe’s Buttermilk Ranch

I could drink this buttermilk ranch from Trader Joe’s. No shade to standard ranch, but this stuff is so much more than just ranch. It’s tangy and herby and zesty. When was the last time you had a bottled ranch with actual, identifiable herb flavors? This stuff tastes like dill! And chives! And parsley! It’s the best Trader Joe’s salad dressing we’ve ever had—and the second best condiment we tried this year. Find it in the refrigerated aisle.

Hidden Valley Garlic Ranch

Winner

Hidden Valley Garlic Ranch

We gave this new Hidden Valley ranch a perfect 10 out of 10. While Trader Joe’s Buttermilk Ranch is fresh and herbaceous, this new HVR Garlic Ranch tastes like a local pizza joint in a bottle. It’s like garlic knots and ranch had a delicious, dippable baby. Use it on frozen pizza, use it on vegetables, use it on wings. If you think this sounds like an unnecessary condiment, that just means you haven’t tried it yet. Because it’s the best new condiment we tried in 2024.
