While we tasted all of these foods together, when it came to picking the best thing we tasted all year, the Sporked team just couldn’t agree. So we each picked a winner. Here are the best foods we tasted in 2022, according to Sporked staffers.

I can’t get over how good this frozen pizza is. The DiGiorno ads might promote it as pizza that tastes as good as delivery, but Motor City Pizza tastes better than delivery. The Detroit-style pie bakes up with a doughy, buttery interior crust and crispy, cheesy edges. The toppings are scattered about evenly and they are plentiful—no tiny mound of misplaced pepperoni cubes here. Even after updating the original best frozen pizza ranking, this frozen pizza pie remains on top. It opened my eyes up to how good frozen pizza can be, and for that, I will always be grateful. Thank you, Motor City, for being so cheesy, so doughy, so crispy. Thank you for being you.
I was elated when I first saw Herr’s Jalapeño Cheese Curls appear at a local 7-Eleven here in Los Angeles. They’re powerfully cheesy, peppery, and salty in a way that knocks you right on your ass. The jalapeño flavor is subtle and just right, adding a delightful layer of flavor to an already stellar cheese curl. Watching Rhett’s eyes light up when he tried one on an episode of Good Mythical More made me pump my first in the air. Herr’s is a Pennsylvania company, but there’s a reason these cheese curls made the journey all the way to California. They’re an absolutely phenomenal snack.
I really didn’t expect to love a lemon-flavored yogurt, but Oikos Lemon Meringue was such a hit during our Greek yogurt taste test that it took the top spot in our ranking. It’s tart in a way that complements the natural tartness of the yogurt, and the “meringue” aspect really comes through—there’s a warm, sugary flavor in this little cup that rounds out the other flavors so nicely. As I said at the time, you could scoop this into a graham cracker pie crust and call it dessert. Even without the crust, it’s become one of my favorite post-dinner treats.
MAMA Artificial Chicken Flavor Instant Noodles stole the top spot in our best instant ramen taste test and rightfully so. It’s the best thing I’ve tasted at Sporked all year. These instant noodles come with three different sauce packets for maximum flavor. The noodles are tender, yet chewy. The broth is rich and just a tad oily. I could eat these instant noodles every single day for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy. You can top them with a soft-boiled egg, lightly air-fried tofu, shredded rotisserie chicken, or fresh veggies. The possibilities are literally endless. That being said, you don’t need to top them with anything at all. They are sensational all on their own, and I want you all to try them ASAP.
Oreo remains both the best and worst thing to have happened to my life as they keep introducing seasonal treats and then tearing them away from me faster than you can ask, “How could you?” In early August, Nabisco gifted us with the Neapolitan Oreo, which is sadly no longer available online or in store. But if these cookies walked back into my life even after ghosting me for all these months, I would give them ten Sporks all over again. They feature three flavors of creme (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry), all sandwiched between a couple of ever-so-lightly cinnamon-spiced wafers. What more could a person want from their Oreo?! Nothing, I tell you!! These were the perfect treat and now they’re gone, leaving me as empty as the shelves where they once sat. Bring back the Neapolitan flavor, Nabisco!
