The Best Microwavable Snacks

Sometimes, a warm snack is simply all you need to be happy, and that’s just fax. Hungry late at night or after school? Warm snack. Need some emotional comfort? Warm snack. You and your adult Californian friends just built a snowman for the first time and you are super proud of it, but also none of your shoes were waterproof, so now you are all sitting in front of the fire desperately trying to absorb heat of any kind? Warm snack. So, without further ado, here’s our list of the best microwavable snacks.

Pop Secret Movie Theater Butter

This is not a discussion. One of the best microwave snacks in the universe has to be microwave popcorn. I mean, come on—it even has “microwave” in its name! And this Pop Secret popcorn is the saltiest, butteriest, ideal-est popcorn we were able to find. Sporked contributor Danny Palumbo said this stuff has the “perfect balance of salt and butter that we’re looking for in the best microwave butter popcorn. It mimics the alchemy of delicious movie theater popcorn.” And if popcorn is going to mimic any alchemy, I’d rather it be that one.

Foster Farms Honey Crunchy Corn Dogs

There just aren’t enough foods on sticks—especially foods that are salty, sweet, corny, and meaty all at the same time. These chicken corn dogs from Foster Farms kind of have it all, plus you can throw one in the microwave and have an extremely satisfying (and hot!) snack in about 48 seconds. “This corn dog is juicy, sweet, and meaty with a delightfully soft, puffy texture,” Danny wrote. “The honey gives the dog a nice candied flavor, and the corn-forward taste of the batter is buttery yet vegetal, almost like grits.” I mean, this microwave snack is practically a four-course meal, guys.

El Monterey Extra Crunchy Southwest Chicken Taquitos

I’m aware these are better if you cook them in an oven, air fryer, or toaster oven, but, hey, a microwave will do in a pinch. These taquitos are great for when your friends are over and you want a warm snack that tastes like fried-and-rolled heaven and is also somewhat filling. These had managing editor Gwynedd Stuart wondering how El Monterey “fit this much stuff—chicken, cheese, peppers, beans—inside such a dainty tube.” And senior writer Jordan Myrick called this one of the most delicious things they’d ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and add this to your list of microwave snacks to buy.

Pepperoni Pizza Crispy Crust Hot Pocket

I mean, it wouldn’t be a list of best microwavable snacks without a Hot Pocket up in here. And this isn’t just any old run-of-the-mill Hot Pocket. This Crispy Crust Pepperoni Pizza Hot Pocket is so delicious and cheesy and pepperoni packed that it had Jordan saying it was “one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life.” And contrary to what this article would have you believe, they really don’t say that very often. The taquitos and this Hot Pocket just happen to be that good.

During my junior year of college, about half of my diet consisted of Kraft Mac & Cheese. The other half was Takis, and the third half was edamame. Yes, I was unwell (and didn’t nail math). But assuming this stuff is not the only thing you are eating, it is truly a delightful, warm, salty, soothing addition to your stockpile of microwavable snacks. This stuff is not only downright cozy, it’s also ready in a couple minutes. And, as Jordan said, it has a delightful “mild, cheesy flavor, a creamy texture, and an overall sense of nostalgia.” Don’t you want to eat nostalgia?!?

Our last, absolutely GOATed entry on this list of best microwave snacks is Marketside Spinach & Artichoke Dip. Imagine: You’re curled up on the couch with a big ol’ blanket, a big ol’ bag of tortilla chips, and a big ol’ tub of this dip, all warm from the microwave and bursting with cream cheese, mozzarella, parm, and asiago. Danny noted that it also has “whole chunks of artichokes, which add some extra earthy tang.” I mean, who doesn’t love a warm spinach artichoke dip?! Monsters, that’s who. Oh, and, maybe lactose-intolerant people, but we have an option for them, too.
