The Best Things We Ate This Week (Feb. 27-March 3)

Every week, the Sporked team sidles up to the tasting table and sets out to find the absolute best of the best packaged foods, the gold hidden in the grocery aisles. Each week we’ll bring you five standouts that truly rocked our taste buds and changed our lives—or at least our buying habits. Here are the best things we ate this week.

Chocolate Chex

Chocolate Chex is surprisingly good. About half the cereal squares in the box are coated in a rich cocoa concoction (the other half are plain ol’ Rice Chex) that has a nice, strong chocolate flavor and will definitely turn your milk into delicious chocolate milk. This cereal is simple and classic. There are no bells or whistles. It’s just classic, crispy Chex cereal plus a great chocolate flavor, and it’s a match made in heaven.

Lemon Crisp Kit Kat

We’ve been disappointed by a few of the new Kit Kat flavors (ahem, Raspberry Creme), but they knocked it out of the park with this new Lemon Crisp flavor. It’s refreshing, light, and citrusy. I hope these stick around beyond Easter season, because I would like to eat them during every season. Please and thank you.

Specially Selected Maple French Toast Bagels

I’m not even into sweet bagels and I love these. Aldi Maple French Toast Bagels have converted me. These are sugary without being too sugary. The texture is perfect—light and a little chewy. Plus, these have a lightly eggy taste that really makes them feel like French toast!

Super Seedy Cheese Snack Bites

Trader Joe’s added a “blend of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, puffed quinoa, and black sesame seeds” to their “now-classic Oven-Baked Cheese Bites” and made a perfect snack. They talk about the “whole black peppercorns” giving it a “peppery heat” and “serious cacio e pepe vibes,” and we agree with both of these statements! We tore into these the second we got them and we love them.

Red Baron French Bread Pepperoni Frozen Pizza

We’ve always known that Red Baron makes a good pizza. Now we know that Red Baron also makes a good French bread pizza. Each melty, saucy, bready bite of these loaf-shaped pizzas is delicious. One thing that really set this French bread pizza apart is the spice and flavor of its pepperoni. Nothing like a little kick to liven up your afternoon snack!
