The Best Things We Ate This Week (March 13-17)

Every week, the Sporked team sidles up to the tasting table and sets out to find the absolute best of the best packaged foods, the gold hidden in the grocery aisles. Each week we’ll bring you five standouts that truly rocked our taste buds and changed our lives—or at least our buying habits. Here are the best things we ate this week.

Kettle Brand Unsalted Potato Chips

I never thought I’d say something like this, but I didn’t miss the salt on these unsalted potato chips! The crunch is spectacular and they’re pleasantly greasy. They have a great potato flavor. These would be perfect for a flavorful dip. I might never go back to salted potato chips again. Once again, I can’t believe I’m saying this.

Van Leeuwen Sweet Maple Cornbread Ice Cream

This ice cream has a maple base studded with pieces of honey-flavored cornbread and it is so freaking good. The cornbread has a wonderful cakey texture that contrasts the creamy maple ice cream. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and savory. It should be hitting Walmart stores soon, so keep an eye out for it!

Trader Joe’s Elote Chopped Salad Kit

I wasn’t expecting much from this salad kit, but it blew me away. It’s so creamy and crunchy, which is obviously the whole point of elote. It also has a nice sweetness and a little kick. I could see myself eating this as my desk lunch every day of the week and being totally happy.

Heinz Mayoracha

We were shocked that this tastes so good. We would normally never buy something like this. It seems cheesy and kind of dumb. That being said, we are happy to admit when we’re wrong. This is delicious. It’s the perfect blend of sriracha and mayo. It’s creamy, garlicky, and has a nice kick. You could use this on sushi, make an incredible chicken or egg salad, or use it to top the Emily Mariko salmon bowl (which I know some of you are still making).

Motor City Pizza Co. Detroit-Style Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza

Motor City Pizza Co. can do no wrong in our book. They are making the most stellar frozen pizzas to ever grace the grocery store freezer section. Their supreme pizza is our favorite frozen pizza of all time and this pepperoni version is almost as delicious. The pepperoni is a little spicy and gets nice and crispy in the oven. The sauce is savory with a touch of sweetness. There’s plenty of cheese. We love you, Motor City Pizza!
