This Friday, July 24, the convenience store industry will mark 24/7 Day for the eighth year running. On a day when first responders, volunteers, doctors, nurses, and EMTs are thanked for their continued work, the industry will come together to express their gratitude – and maybe offer some deals and discounts in the process.

As a major player in the convenience store space, it’s probably no surprise that Circle K’s getting involved, and it’s doing so by offering some free food to those eligible. First responders, this one’s for you.

Circle K’s 24/7 Day Deals

Yesterday, Circle K announced its participation in this year’s 24/7 Day, and what it’s doing to thank the people who are there when you might need them most. The convenience chain is giving each first responder who attends one of its stores this Friday a free hot dog, cookie, and a medium Polar Pop drink. According to its press release, “law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, doctors, nurses, 9-1-1 professionals, and American Red Cross volunteers” will all be eligible for this offer, and to redeem it, they’ll need to either show official identification or be dressed in uniform.

Circle K is partnering with the NACS Foundation as part of its offer, the philanthropic wing of the National Association of College Stores and a nonprofit organization that champions research, education, and the development of future industry leaders. The NACS Foundation broadened its scope in 2018 to focus more heavily on supporting communities, first responders, and children’s health.

Which Other Convenience Stores Are Getting Involved?

This year’s 24/7 Day looks set to be the biggest yet. CSP Daily News reports that over 105 convenience retailing companies and brands will be offering free menu items or merch to say thanks to first responders and volunteers, with Yesway, Kwik Trip, Sheetz, and Wawa all said to be participating. We can likely expect to see more stores announcing their 24/7 Day plans in the run-up to Friday, so keep an eye on what your closest ones have planned.

Circle K’s announcement of its 24/7 Day plans follows a flurry of news from the chain – we’ve been getting new press releases from it every week, as it continues to have one of its busiest summers yet. Shortly after it offered 25-cent Polar Pops and an exclusive July 4 punch, it announced its new boneless wings, in a move that had us questioning whether it was aiming for more ambitious territory with its menu. It’s on a bit of a roll right now.
