Ice cream and pizza are a timeless, classic American combo, featured at elementary school birthdays all the way through to retirement parties. Why? Because they go together like, well, pizza and ice cream (also because the U.S. has a collective lactose fixation). And now, DiGiorno is bringing these two iconic foods closer together than ever before. In honor of National Ice Cream Month next month, the company is giving away pizza-flavored ice cream and croissant crust cones.
After first releasing croissant crust pizzas, and then croissant crust breakfast pizzas last year, DiGiorno really is milking (a dairy pun) the croissant crust for all it’s worth. And now they have apparently decided to skip the “pizza” component altogether by making a croissant crust ice cream cone. If you ask me, that is just a flaky pastry cone—and that’s certainly not a bad thing.
So how does the giveaway work? Head over to their website between July 7 and 17 to enter for a chance to win two DiGiorno Croissant Crust Cones, two pints of pizza-flavored ice cream (one tomato basil strawberry and the other parmesan cheese-flavored), and one $15 gift card for ice cream toppings. And don’t worry about the ice cream quality, because it’s not DiGiorno…it’s delivery! But seriously, the ice cream is actually made by a Cleveland-based ice cream shop called Honey Hut and, boy, do their ice creams look good.
I think I may actually enter this one. I’m a little skeptical of the parmesan ice cream, but with a croissant cone, it actually sounds kind of…good? And I’m just plain excited for the tomato, basil, and strawberry ice cream. As I’ve said before, the world needs more tomato-based frozen desserts. Well, that’s about all there is to say on this topic. I would make one more “it’s not delivery, it’s DiGiorno” joke, but at this point, I feel like that would just be cheesy.
