Folks, I’ve covered some dubious food and drinks here on Sporked, but today is definitely the most specific: BuzzBallz sent over their new Elf-themed “Maple Syrup Sundae” cocktail. This non-carbonated cocktail is made with vodka, “other than standard orange wine,” and natural flavors. Box wine is out; orb wine is in. (I’m not familiar with standard orange wine, let alone the other-than-standard version I have in front of me.)

Ignoring the terrifying clinical description, the flavor concept is… also terrifying! Buddy the Elf’s breakfast “sundae” contains spaghetti topped with marinara sauce, maple syrup, chocolate chips, M&M’s, mini marshmallows, Pop-Tarts, caramel sauce, and chocolate syrup. (Thanks to Binging with Babish for doing that freeze-frame ingredient research and consuming the end result.)

Is this cocktail actually spaghetti-flavored?

Luckily for me, the official flavor description cuts out everything in Buddy’s recipe except the maple syrup at the expense of adding something else concerning. This new BuzzBallz flavor “blends rich maple syrup sundae flavor with velvety dairy and smooth spirits.” Did that say dairy? Yeah, while there’s no spaghetti in this drink, there is milk.

It’s time to open this dairy-based maple syrup vodka/wine cocktail. I should have updated my will.

New BuzzBallz Flavor!

Elf Maple Syrup Sundae BuzzBallz Cocktail

Pros: This is shockingly good. Once you get past the weirdness of a maple syrup-flavored cocktail, it’s basically pancake-flavored Bailey’s. The texture is very “creme liqueur” and despite the strong aroma, the flavor is well-balanced. This would rule in an alcoholic milkshake; I actually wish BuzzBallz sold this flavor in their extra-large “Biggies” format so I could try it.

Cons: You do need to have this drink cold if you plan to enjoy it. Drinking this at room temperature feels like straight maple syrup mixed with vodka—not the most pleasant experience in the world.
