Frito-Lay 2025 Cuts: 15 Snacks That Are Going Away

After a truly extraordinary year for Frito-Lay, packed full of exciting releases (including a personal favorite of mine, Flamin Hot Cajun Cheddar Cheetos), it’s unfortunately the time of year that everyone dreads: discontinuation time. Frito-Lay (makers of Lay’s, Cheetos, Fritos, Doritos, and other snacks you love in the chip aisle) is making a list (and checking it twice) of all of the snacks they reportedly plan to cut in 2025. Thanks to the snackfluencer bestie duo of SnachWithZach and myself (Team Supernova), we have the list. Prepare yourself for the list of Frito-Lay snacks that will soon no longer be on shelves.

Note: This is, of course, tentative, so there is always that chance that these decisions could change!

In 2025, Frito-Lay plans to discontinue:

  • Flamin’ Hot White Cheddar Smart Food
  • Ruffles Lime & Jalapeno
  • Tostitos Mexican Three Cheese
  • Tostitos Black Bean & Garlic
  • Lay’s Honey BBQ Poppables
  • Sun Chips Chili Lime
  • Popcorners Sour Cream & Onion

Additionally, Frito-Lay plans to cut the entirety of the Doritos Dinamita Sticks line which consists of three flavors:

  • Doritos Dinamita Sticks Hot Honey Mustard
  • Doritos Dinamita Sticks Tangy Fiery Lime
  • Doritos Dinamita Sticks Smoky Chili Queso

Last but not least, in a category that I feel personally attacked by, Frito-Lay has multiple cuts for Cheetos:

  • Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Tangy Chili Fusion
  • Cheetos Popcorn
  • Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Popcorn
  • Cheetos Pretzels
  • Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Pretzels

When will these products disappear?

While we don’t have an exact date, sources tell us that big changes like this for Frito-Lay typically happen in January. So, if you saw a favorite snack of yours on this list and you want to stock up, you’d best do it while you can! (I will personally be immediately running to my nearest store to round up all of the Tangy Chili Fusion Cheetos and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Pretzels I can find.)

What will replace these products?

We do believe that we have a complete list of what is replacing these cuts—so, stay tuned! In the meantime, let me know in the comments if you are impacted by any of these cuts.

  • I am shocked and very disappointed that Frito Lay is discontinuing the Cheetos popcorn line! This has become my hubby’s favorite after work and general TV snack and he has actually lost 20lbs. in the last 2 and a half months since switching to this as a snack rather than potato chips and candy. Very disappointing Frito Lay!

  • My name is Jason Shane Wilson and I came up with the sandwich sized potato chip for you because people put potato chip on the sandwich.

  • Why are they getting rid of the black bean and garlic! The stores are always sold out of them when they have them. The cheese popcorn is a hot item too!

  • I love popcorners but I have never tried the onion and sour cream flavored ones. Will these ever be made again in the near future?

  • Cheetos popcorn is not going away. It is being rebranded as Cheetos flavored smartfood

  • I’ve never tried these products. I’m still upset about baked Doritos being discontinued.

    • Some of these products I will never try but one of these products I really would like to try and that is the Cheetos pretzels every time I go to my local Walmart and I look to see if they have them they don’t have them so maybe they are going to just continue a lot of these products because people haven’t tried them because they can’t find them in their local grocery stores
