Everyone loves a good comeback. A moment in the sun, followed by relative obscurity, and then…boom. The return. Back in everyone’s good graces. From movie stars to sports legends, pop icons to businesses, something or someone turning things around and becoming the talk of the town again – usually after being away for a while – is endlessly satisfying.

That’s why I’m pretty excited about the return of this Halloween candy, which first arrived in 2016 and has been pretty hard to find in the last few years. Let’s get spicy.

Cinnamon Apple Hot Tamales

This year, Cinnamon Apple Hot Tamales are returning to shelves after an extended absence. According to @candyhunting, these candies first dropped in 2016, when they were featured at the Sweets & Snacks Expo of that year – but ever since, they’ve not been around. Now, though, we have a comeback! Cinnamon Apple Hot Tamales are limited-edition, so don’t expect them to be available for too long, but if spicy, chewy, and sweet is your thing for Halloween, you’ll be very pleased. You can find them at Hy-Vee, and we’d imagine they’ll be in other stores, too.

Hot Tamales’ Cinnamon Apple flavor is one of several products that the candy brand has teased this year, and the others have lent into more trendy tastes. A few months ago, Hot Tamales launched its Tropical Heat flavor, which very much felt like it was playing into the swicy trend that’s sweeping the food world. And soon, it’ll launch its Hot Honey flavor, which is…playing into the swicy trend that’s sweeping the food world! It could be said that Hot Tamales were the OG swicy candy, to be honest, so in a sense, other brands are trying to catch up with ‘em – but let’s be real, hot honey’s everywhere, and this sweet treat’s joining it.

Mike & Ike Sour Spooky Treats

This isn’t the only news about pellet-shaped Halloween candies that we have for you, either. Mike & Ike Sour Spooky Treats are back! The candy returns for another season, with Sour Orange Scream, Sour Wicked Watermelon, and Sour Ghoulish Grape flavors in every pack. One for when you tire of all the spicy options that Hot Tamales puts out, we guess.

Oh, and if you’re thinking this is all a bit early — we regret to inform you that the news of these releases is, in fact, almost late. Halloween candy’s been arriving thick and fast over the last few weeks (and you might be able to get it year-round soon, too). We’re not quite in the eye of the storm yet, but we’re getting close.
