A Renamed UK Ice Cream Has Just Landed At US Costcos

I’m from the UK – and that means (and I say this in the style of a confessional scene in a Netflix documentary, straight down the barrel of the lens) that I eat British food. “British food” is, of course, a broad swathe of dishes from four distinct countries, each with different counties and regional specialties within them – but most people will picture a mass of beige, maybe some potatoes and a pie, when I say that term.

But we also have Twister Berry-Licious Ice Lollies. And now, the US does too. It’s not all meat and carbs over here, I promise.

Twister Berry-Licious > Mars Twistpops

A couple of days ago, @markie_devo dropped the news that The Magnum Company was bringing Twister Berry-Licious ice pops to the United States, and renaming them as Mars Twistpops for the new audience. As far as I can tell, there’s no change to the recipe here: These ice creams have Raspberry, Blueberry, and Blackcurrant all layered up in a twisted braid. I haven’t had one of these in a minute, but from what I remember, those flavors have never felt especially distinct – but that’s also because it’s pretty difficult to actually get to each one individually, what with it being twisted up and all. They also melt onto your fingers VERY quickly, so you’ll need some napkins to get through it.

Anyway! That’s enough of my quasi-review. According to @markie_devo, Mars Twistpops are available now – but for the time being at least, they’re only available at Costco. No word on whether it’ll be sold anywhere else in the future just yet, but if it’s a hit for The Magnum Company, it could be stocked more widely soon.

But They Missed The Best One…

Indeed they did. The Twister Berry-Licious pales in comparison, in my opinion, to the original Twister, a pineapple and lime-flavored ice pop with a strawberry interior, and which is, at present, a UK exclusive. Popsicle Fruit Twisters come close, but they have a slightly different flavor profile. 

But hey, maybe Mars will ship those over at some point too – and if @markie_devo’s comment section is anything to go by, people would be ready for it. “Bring on more UK products to the US!!! Let’s go!!” said one comment on the post announcing the debut of Mars Twistpops. All I’d say is be careful what you wish for; we’ve got some pretty weird stuff over here.
