This New HI-CHEW Frozen Yogurt Just Hit Menchie’s

While I’m very proud of the HI-CHEW ranking I wrote last year, chewing all that candy hurt my jaw for days afterwards. When HI-CHEW heard about my on-the-job injury, I was honored with the brand’s highest civilian honor: my very own Chew Crew jacket. While anyone can join HI-CHEW’s Chew Crew fan club to take surveys and enter giveaways, the custom letterman jacket is only gifted to folks who are truly committed to HI-CHEW—and it’s a nice jacket. (The Australian personality Ladybeard was visually and verbally jealous of it when we ended up in the same elevator.)

All that being said, my initial jaw pain could have been avoided if HI-CHEW were just… less chewy. Okay, maybe that’s not an option. Luckily, there is one company delivering that HI-CHEW flavor sans mouth workout: Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt. The nationwide froyo chain just launched their second HI-CHEW-inspired flavor. Say hello to Grapefruit HI-CHEW Frozen Yogurt. While I didn’t love this fruity flavor from HI-CHEW’s Sweet & Sour Mix when I ranked it, I have a feeling this frozen yogurt will resolve the “weak flavor” concerns I noted back then.

Wait, what was the first HI-CHEW frozen yogurt at Menchie’s?

In June 2025, Menchie’s released Blue Hawaii HI-CHEW Frozen Yogurt as their Flavor of the Month. I actually made a special trip to try it at the Menchie’s location a short walk away from Jungle Jim’s International Market. I didn’t write up a full review at the time, but I really enjoyed the cocktail-flavored-candy-flavored froyo. I was shocked at how well the frozen yogurt emulated the post-HI-CHEW mouthfeel (minus the significant temperature difference). I can only assume this new Grapefruit HI-CHEW frozen yogurt will deliver that same uncanny accuracy.
