This summer, we’ll all be trying Mountain Dew Citrus Blackberry for the first time–or will we? This is a weird one, folks. Technically, I’m here to tell you about a brand-new Mountain Dew flavor debuting later this year. That being said, I’m pretty sure 95% of this soda is identical to a Mountain Dew Game Fuel variant that hit shelves a few years ago. This is a mystery; let’s split up and search for clues, gang.

What is Mountain Dew Citrus Blackberry?
Recently, a PepsiCo-partnered website posted the Mountain Dew Citrus Blackberry product image seen above. That official render corroborated a few reports we’ve been hearing about a new store-exclusive Mountain Dew launching this summer. You may have noticed this new Dew doesn’t feature a fancy name like “Baja Blast” or “Supernova“; unfortunately, Mountain Dew has started naming their sodas after… the flavors of the sodas. I’m sure it makes sense from a sales perspective, but it’s boring as hell. I don’t want to drink Mountain Dew Dragonfruit; I want to drink Mountain Dew Fruity Dragonfire.
Wasn’t there already a Citrus Blackberry Mountain Dew Game Fuel?
Yes, and that’s what’s so confusing about this! In 2024, Mountain Dew released a Citrus Blackberry Game Fuel variant in partnership with the Diablo video game franchise. (Per our own Mountain Dew superfan Tyler Bowers, Mountain Dew Game Fuel: Citrus Blackberry featured “a disturbing lack of blackberry flavor”.) After comparing the nutritional facts of these Mountain Dews, I can confirm that Mountain Dew Game Fuel: Citrus Blackberry and the upcoming Mountain Dew Citrus Blackberry are nearly identical–with one glaring, obvious difference: Caffeine! The 2024 Game Fuel release contained 113mg per 20oz bottle, while the 2026 release will contain just 90mg per 20oz bottle.
How can I get my hands on the “new” Mountain Dew Citrus Blackberry?
Per our sources, Mountain Dew Citrus Blackberry will release exclusively at Casey’s gas stations starting in May 2026. At this time, I can confirm we’ll see the flavor in 20oz bottles, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in Casey’s soda fountains and/or slushy machines. This limited-time-only release is the first exclusive Mountain Dew release to hit Casey’s locations since Mountain Dew Overdrive. When Casey’s announced the discontinuation of Mountain Dew Overdrive in December 2025, the brand did promise we’d still see limited-edition Mountain Dew flavors drop exclusively at their stores. There’s plenty of discontinued Mountain Dew flavors we’d love to see return to shelves; I’m formally requesting Casey’s revive Mountain Dew Southern Shock ASAP.
How do we know it isn’t bottled Buffalo Wild Wings Legend? Legend had “Blackberry Citrus” on the label, and the caffeine content would be exactly the same.
We already had it here in Tennessee. Not really that good at all.
I agree about the new names being boring asks also that there’s so many flavors I wish they’d bring back instead but taking away some of the caffeine?! Criminal.
Having Casey’s here everywhere means I’ll cop his immediately.
Casey’s? I never even heard of them. What is it with their limited exclusive Mountain dews.. obviously they lose a lot of money by doing that because only a select number of people would be able to buy the drink unless someone sells it on eBay for marked up value. What is the point of doing that? Guess I’ll never be able to get a new Mountain Dew flavor. It’s not only that but it wasn’t even the fan favorite variant of game fuel. It was cherry citrus that was more popular. But I guess they’re still riding on the coattails of how everyone was doing blackberry infused food and drinks for summer
What the hell is Casey??? Strange choice for an exclusive flavor.
How about you make zero sugar options of all the mountain dew flavors so that people with diabetes can enjoy them too, and distribute them everywhere so that everyone can try them
On that note I wish Code Red Zero Sugar was available everywhere.
WILL THEY RELEASE THE MOUNTAIN DEW CITRUS BLACKBERRY SOMEWHERE IN COLORADO SPRINGS CAUSE THAT IS WHERE ME AND MY BOYFRIEND LIVE
It says they’re exclusive to Casey’s gas stations, so if you don’t have Casey’s you won’t see it. But, who knows.
