According to several online sources, Mtn Dew Baja Blast—one of the brand’s most beloved flavors and the Mtn Dew flavor of choice for Leos everywhere—is slated to become a permanent retail release in the U.S. in January 2024. That’s right. If rumors are true, everyone’s favorite “tropical lime”-flavored soda won’t just be a summer release or a Taco Bell exclusive starting next year. Until now, this sippable Taco Bell staple would head to stores for a brief stint in the summertime. (Apologies for all the S words. Really gets you in the mood to sip though, doesn’t it?) And this summer, two new Mtn Dew Baja Blast flavors joined the lineup.
So, what are the new Baja Blast flavors?
This summer, along with the return of the classic Baja Blast, you can find two new tropical Mtn Dew Baja Blast flavors in stores: Mtn Dew Baja Passionfruit Punch and Mtn Dew Baja Caribbean Splash. Mtn Dew Baja Passionfruit Punch may or may not be akin to Mtn Dew Passionfruit Frenzy, a flavor that was released in New Zealand in 2012 as a replacement for fan-favorite Mtn Dew Pitch Black. Mtn Dew Baja Caribbean Splash, on the other hand, is guava flavored, which, if you don’t mind us interjecting here, really should have been advertised in the name. Guava is one of the best fruit flavors and it’s underrepresented in the soda world. Mtn Dew missed out on a huge opportunity to clearly advertise to—and take money from—guava fanatics. But, hey. Now you know. Mtn Dew Baja Blast and its sippable siblings joined new Mtn Dew Summer Freeze and the re-releases of Mtn Dew Baja Blast, Mtn Dew Baja Blast Zero Sugar, and Mtn Dew Energy Baja Blast in June 2023.
There were also online rumors that a Baja Blast-flavored ice cream would be coming to Taco Bell this summer, but it’s yet to materialize. It was unclear whether the ice cream would be sold in cartons, in scoops, or as an ice cream sandwich, but internet sleuths claimed that it would roll out between June and August. We’re still keeping our fingers crossed!
