7 Never Released Sodas We Wish Made It to Shelves

We’re gathered here to honor seven sodas, or, in some cases, ideas for sodas that were too good (or bad, or weird, or just ill-timed) for this world. The only silver lining I can give you is that it’s possible a few of these could be released in the future. (As you’ll soon find out, the last entry actually is available if you take a road trip.) Here are seven sodas that were leaked or teased that never actually made it onto U.S. shelves.

Pepsi Watermelon

The first rumblings of this Pepsi variant came in late November 2023 when a brave employee leaked photos of Pepsi Watermelon and Pepsi Peach (and a planned release date of April 2024) online. A few months later, surprise! No Pepsi Watermelon, let’s do Pepsi Lime instead. Y’all, I’ll say it: We were robbed.

MTN Dew Sasquench

In 2025, Mountain Dew will release Mango Rush, their first Little Caesar’s exclusive flavor—but they’ve been trying for a while now. Officially speaking, there were never any confirmed plans to release MTN Dew Sasquench. That said, a 16oz can render of this “Raspberry Citrus Punch” flavor leaked online back in early 2023. Real or not, our resident Mountain Dew ambassador Tyler Bowers still gets a twitch in his eye when anyone brings it up.

Coca-Cola Cinnamon Zero Sugar

Remember Coca-Cola Cinnamon? Yeah, I try to forget it too. As we learned from Coca-Cola Spiced’s fall from grace, Coca-Cola really doesn’t need any more spice. While a Zero Sugar variant of Coca-Cola Cinnamon did release in other countries, the American release was canceled somewhere between “one product render leaking online” and “actually hitting store shelves.”

MTN Dew Riddler’s Brew

The Batman was initially scheduled to release in 2021 (it ended up with a 2022 release). The problem with delaying a film’s release for a year is that you also end up delaying all the time-sensitive promotions for that film. Had this soda ever come out, MTN Dew Riddler’s Brew would have been a mystery-flavored Mountain Dew with the flavor presumably being revealed near the end of the promotion through some sort of Riddler-themed ARG/puzzle. Here’s hoping that flavor would have been as good as the last Batman-flavored Mountain Dew.

Pepsi Tempo and Pepsi Summer Chill

The era of regular Coca-Cola Creations releases feels like a lifetime ago (and I miss it so much). That said, not many people remember that Pepsi almost took a swing at the “attaching random names to ambiguous flavors” concept, too. The initial leak of “Pepsi Tempo” and “Pepsi Summer Chill” even got covered here on Sporked! We never confirmed anything regarding the flavors of these two vibe-themed sodas—god only knows what we managed to avoid.

Coca-Cola Test Beverage 23

This one gets an asterisk as the only soda on this list you can actually get your hands on—but it’ll cost you. Coca-Cola produces “Test Beverage 23” for exactly one soda fountain on the entire planet. Inside the “Beverage Lab” at the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, you can sample a soda that is allegedly being tested for future release. It’s pretty good, but I have a feeling this gimmick won’t be leaving the lab anytime soon.
