The New Goldfish Crisps and Goldfish Grahams Are Reel-y Good

Sometimes when I have to write a new product review—especially one that involves several products—I’ll bring them home so I can sit, snack, taste, and consider their virtues from the comfort of my couch (and with a little helpful input from my very nice and enthusiastic husband). The new Goldfish Crisps and (new-ish) Goldfish Grahams came home with me on a Thursday—and most of them didn’t make it through the weekend without disappearing.

In case you’re not famils, Goldfish Crisps, which launched at the tail end of 2023, are basically the love child of crackers and potato crisps (like Pringles) in the classic fish shape we know and love. They were originally released in Cheddar, Salt & Vinegar, and Sour Cream & Onion (we really liked them all, but Cheddar was the standout), and now there are two new Goldfish Crisps flavors: BBQ and Spicy Dill Pickle Goldfish Crisps.

As for the new Goldfish Grahams, that’s where things get a little confusing. Vanilla Cupcake Goldfish Grahams aren’t new—we’ve reviewed them before and they’re good! Likewise, Strawberry Shortcake Goldfish Grahams came out late last year, but were a limited edition release to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th birthday (we tried them and liked them a lot). So what we’ll focus on here are the two new Goldfish Crisps and the new Cinnamon Roll Goldfish Grahams.

New Goldfish!

Cinnamon Roll Goldfish Grahams

If you’ve never had Goldfish Grahams, they’re pretty fun. They’re like Teddy Grahams but they don’t have that sugary sheen and they’re a little more crumbly. It’s fun because they’re essentially cookies but you get to eat dozens of them rather than a few. Who doesn’t love that?

Pros: Cinnamon Roll Goldfish Grahams are sweet and crunchy and totally tasty. They have a little bit of a salted-butter note that nods to the flavor of the icing on a cinnamon roll. They’re decadent without being heavy, and they taste like a baked good without the phony, cloying “baked good” flavor.

Cons: Honestly, I think they could stand to be a little spicier. I want more cinnamon!

spicy dill pickle goldfish crisps review

New Goldfish!

Spicy Dill Pickle Goldfish Crisps

Goldfish Crisps claim to be light and airy, and that’s no lie. They’re such a treat to eat, and they’re baked, so they don’t feel as heavy as other potato-based crispy snacks.

Pros: The pickle flavor dust on these Goldfish Crisps is BRINY. Damn! You get a lot of salt and a lot of vinegar tang, with a nice, subtle backbone of dill flavor that’s fresh and zippy rather than stale (dried herbs, especially dill, can taste like they came from a dusty old spice rack).

Cons: These new Goldfish Crisps are so, so spicy. I know what you’re thinking: Is that a con?? I mean, for a lot of people, no. It’s a pro. But for a person who really, really loves crunchy, potato-based baked snacks and wants to eat them without gastrointestinal repercussions, it’s a bit of a con. It’s a simmering heat that settles into your throat and chest and grows as you eat. For a snack I can only assume children eat, it’s a lot! But if you’re a spicy snack fiend, just pretend this is in the “pros” column.

barbecue goldfish crisps review

New Goldfish!

Barbecue Goldfish Crisps

Barbecue seems like a snoozy flavor alongside Spicy Dill Pickle, but there’s something about the bold BBQ seasoning on these little blank canvases that really sings. If you like BBQ Baked Lays, you’re going to love these new Goldfish Crisps.

Pros: Even if you usually aren’t into BBQ potato chips, give these a shot. My husband is a BBQ seasoning skeptic and absolutely loved these. There’s something interesting about this flavor dust, and my taste buds tell me it’s that there’s more ginger in the mix. The flavoring is bright and zesty rather than tomatoey or smoky. These were devoured almost immediately.

Cons: If you like BBQ potato chips because you enjoy licking that wonderful slurry of seasoning and grease off of your fingers, Barbecue Goldfish Crisps might be a letdown. There’s really no grease of which to speak, but I think that also makes them more snackable for a lot of people.
