Hi, ghouls. It’s me, queen ghoul, here to raise your spirits with all the new Halloween candy coming out this year. Because, like it or not, spooky season is here. I don’t care that it’s early September and still a million degrees outside in Southern California. I just bought three very ugly gourds at Trader Joe’s, replaced all my normal candles with witchy ones, and rolled out the ghost welcome mat.
Now, before I start yappin’ about new Halloween candy—including a new Reese’s cup—I have an important question for you: If it was socially acceptable to be an adult trick-or-treater, would you do it? Would you dress up in a fun costume, roam spookily decorated neighborhoods, and accept free candy from strangers? Because honestly, I’m tempted, and I’m not sure if that makes me a bad person. Anyways, that’s just something I’ve been wrestling with recently. But enough about my existential crisis—let’s sink our fangs into all the new Halloween candy that you need in your cauldron-shaped trick-or-treat bowl this year.
- Reese’s Werewolf Tracks
-
Big news for anyone keeping “track” of new Halloween treats: There’s a new Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup coming out for Halloween this year. New Reese’s Werewolf Tracks have the same PB filling we all know and love, but they’re coated in half vanilla creme and half chocolate. True Reese’s fans know that getting a new outer coating flavor is pretty rare; they love to change the cup’s size and appearance, but rarely get experimental with flavor. Unless these end up tasting exactly like White Creme Peanut Butter Cups, I’d say we’re in for a real treat this year!
- Brach’s Mellowcreme Autumn Leaves
-
Wherever you fall on the candy corn hater-to-apologist spectrum, this is pretty big news: Brach’s is adding a fall-themed candy corn pack to their line-up called Mellowcreme Autumn Leaves. These are shaped like little, colorful leaves and come in five cozy flavors: caramel apple, pumpkin spice, sweet maple, salted butterscotch, and spiced cider.
- M&M’s Milk Chocolate Pumpkin Pie
-
M&M’s in a cozy fall color palette? These are gonna do big numbers on a Pinterest board. We actually tried these back in July, and while we thought they lacked a real pumpkin spice punch, they’re still yummy. “They mostly taste like milk chocolate with just a whisper of cinnamon and nutmeg on the finish,” writes Sporked managing editor Gwynedd Stuart. (To be honest, we’re more excited for the peanut butter & jelly M&M’s, though—but they won’t make it into candy baskets until 2025.) But if you’re leaning into autumn decor for September, these might look nice on a serving platter next to Brach’s Autumn Leaves.
- M&M’s Ghoul’s Blend
-
If pumpkin spice is too overhyped for you, M&M’s also has a “ghoul blend” ready for spooky season—which is basically just their classic peanut butter chocolate M&M’s with purple, green, and orange candy shells. Boring? A little bit. Should it even count as a new Halloween candy mix? I don’t know. Will I buy it? Yes. Yes, I will.
- Ghost Toast Kit Kat
-
Ghost Toast Kit Kat isn’t officially Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavored… just like Tootsie Rolls aren’t officially chocolate, and I’m not officially dressing as Daenerys Targaryen for Halloween (yet). But Kit Kat isn’t fooling anyone. In fact, we tried these back in August, and boy oh boy, were we impressed. The wafers taste exactly like CTC square (seriously, it’s a little eerie), and the creme inside also carries a nice hint of that cinnamon-sugar flavor. These just might be our favorite new Halloween candy for the year.
- Twix Ghoulish Green
-
“Wow. Twix is so much better than Snickers,” said Trevor Evarts, controversially, in our unedited new Halloween candy haul after trying both the Ghoulish Green Twix and Ghoulish Green Snickers side-by-side. I won’t say if I agree, but these spookified green Twix will definitely hit the spot. I think any house trying to impress the trick-or-treating kiddos (and adults…question mark?) with the most eye-catching new Halloween candy should absolutely throw these in a bowl.
- Skittles Littles
-
Say it with me: ghost tube. That’s really all you’re getting with these “haunted” Skittles Littles. And hey, for some people (me), that’s enough. These are just smol Skittles in a smol tube that’s decorated with smol ghosts. Is it the most creative concept for new Halloween candy we’ve seen? Nope. But if you like mini Skittles, and you like ghosts that have mini Skittles for eyes, you’ll probably like this.
- Twizzlers Ghosts
-
These cherry-flavored, ghost-shaped Twizzlers Nibs have already been spotted haunting the candy aisle. It’s hard for me to imagine a Twizzler without its typical straw shape, but these look super cute. Pro tip: Toss these in a bowl with the Green Twix and sit down for The Nightmare Before Christmas for some spooky Hallowen/Xmas vibes.
- Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Harry Potter Snack Size Halloween Candy
-
Whether you support the franchise or not, Hershey’s has rolled out their Harry Potter Halloween chocolate bars for the year. They’re themed after the four Hogwarts houses, and while I expected them to be different colors, these just look like standard Hershey’s bars with imprinted designs. Seems a little lazy to me, but to each their own!
